The Boston Celtics took the 1st quarter by storm and held the lead for the majority of the time. Their biggest lead of the quarter was 8 points. However, the quarter ended with the Celtics up by 2 points. The 2nd quarter was a game of back and forth, with a total of 9 out of the game’s 15 lead changes. The quarter ended with the Celtics up by one point.
Things changed in the 3rd quarter. The Pacers took the lead early on and held it until the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter. The Indiana Pacers’ biggest lead in the 3rd quarter was 6 points, and they extended that lead to 9 points in the 4th. However, if there is any time on the clock, the Celtics know they have a chance to come back and win it in the 4th. It is something they were comfortable and familiar with, as it has happened multiple times in this series.
In the last minute of the game, Jaylen Brown made a layup to tie the game. Then he made a major defensive stop with a clutch block. In transition, Derrick White hit a corner 3-pointer to give the Celtics a 3-point lead. The Pacers could not score in transition, and the Celtics held the ball before the Pacers could foul them. The game ended with a score of 105 to 103.
Honorable Mentions
Jaylen Brown had a great Game 4, scoring 29 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists, making 3 steals, and blocking 1 shot. He made the last-minute layup to tie the game, blocked the Pacers’ go-ahead shot, and assisted Derrick White for the game-winning 3-pointer.
Brown is not only the MVP of Game 4 but also of the Eastern Conference Finals. He has had some big moments in this series. Without him, the Celtics would not be in the position they are in. In Game 1, he hit a highly contested 3-pointer to send the game to overtime. In Game 2, he set a new career high for points in a playoff game. He has averaged 29.8 points in the Eastern Conference Finals. It will be great to see him do the same in the Finals.
