Bernadine Bezuidenhout Retires from Epic International Cricket Career

Bernadine Bezuidenhout Calls Time on Her International Cricket Journey

New Zealand wicketkeeper Bernadine Bezuidenhout has reported her retirement from international cricket. She played four ODIs and seven T20Is for South Africa prior to changing over to New Zealand, whom she addressed in 16 ODIs and 22 T20Is.

Bernadine Bezuidenhout Steps Down

It’s been a particularly extraordinary ride, Bernadine Bezuidenhout said in a New Zealand Cricket proclamation. Playing for the White Greeneries has been an immense and unbelievable privilege, and it’s left me with the fondest recollections. Bezuidenhout played five of New Zealand’s six white-ball games at home against England earlier this year before being ruled out due to a hamstring injury in the final ODI.

The excursion has shown me so much, and I’ll be thankful to every individual who has been on the journey with me. She has founded the non-profit social enterprise EPIC Sports Project Charitable Trust, which aims to use sport to inspire hope and belonging in young people in high-deprivation communities and break barriers to participation in sport.

Bernadine Bezuidenhout made her global presentation for South Africa in 2014. She migrated to Christchurch in 2015 and was first picked for New Zealand in mid-2018 after a lapse of a two-year private sabbatical in August 2017. She played in the T20 World Cup sometime thereafter, where New Zealand was taken out in the association stage.

Bezuidenhout was determined to have RED-S (relative energy deficiency in sports) and was out of the game for quite a while before getting back in the saddle with New Zealand’s crew for the T20 World Cup in 2023.

Her nonprofit is utilizing games to motivate trust, create a place for youngsters in high-hardship networks, and break obstructions to support sports. She will continue to play domestic cricket in the Northern District.

“I’m content with this choice yet it was anything but a simple one to make,” Bezuidenhout said. “I’ve battled to track down a harmony between my work and playing vocation for some time now, and after a great deal of thought and reflection I feel that it’s the perfect opportunity to turn and put my full spotlight on The Epic Sports projects”.

Bezuidenhout will keep playing homegrown cricket for the Northern Regions.“I need to thank Bernie for the commitments she’s made to the White ferns on the field and for the mindful characteristics she brought to the gathering off the field,” Ben Sawyer, the New Zealand lead trainer, said. “We’re glad for Bernie’s work beyond cricket, and I have most likely she’ll keep on having a beneficial outcome on the existences of many.”
