It’s time to have a hard competition for only one T20 World Cup position!
Yeah, with the T20 World Cup 2024 getting closer, questions remain over the choices made by the Indian cricket team for its wicketkeepers. And fans are waiting anxiously for the final announcement.
Of course, KL Rahul is almost a lock to make the 15-man roster. Still, there are a few options for the position’s backup pick.
In addition to the emerging talent Jitesh Sharma, who has shown promise in the last year, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Rishabh Pant are all excellent choices for team manager. No doubt, all are great!
Who, in your opinion, is the deserving candidate?
Adam Gilchrist’s Honest-To-Goodness Take on Pant
According to former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist: there is just one obvious option that the selectors should consider when choosing the T20 World Cup team. Who’s that? Let’s know!
Gilchrist stated on Cricbuzz.:
I expect Rishabh Pant to be there definitely. And I would take Sanju Samson as well. Kishan is pushing a very good case, no doubt about that. But I think Rishabh Pant, if he is not locked in, he should be locked in.
Without any doubt, Pant made a strong case for himself by scoring 24-ball-41. He also ensured the victory of Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2024 against the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday. Yeah, it happened!
As we all know, After his almost-deadly accident in 2022, Pant took part in the Indian Premier League for the first time in 2024. And his performance has been quite promising for supporters of the Indian cricket team.
Pant has secured 194 runs at a strong economy rate of 157.72 in six games thus far. Amazingly amazing!
Ishan Kishan as T20 World Cup Wicket-Keeper
Surprisingly Ishan is the batter who scored the most runs for Mumbai Indians by far. It is, in fact, true. Sanju Samson, though, has also been playing well for the Rajasthan Royals.
And yeah, Sanju has already scored 246 runs in six matches. Which includes 3 half-centuries. While Ishan Kishan has scored 161 runs with a strike rate of 182.95.

Jitesh as T20 World Cup Wicket-Keeper
On the other side, Jitesh has not had many opportunities to show his batting abilities. Why so? Because when he has opportunities, he has failed to impress. Remember, the right-hander has scored just 77 runs in five matches, and his strike rate of 135.08 leaves a lot to be desired. Disappointing for his fans!
As we all know, the wicketkeeper-batter position in India’s T20 World Cup team is a battlefield. Is it not? Before the commencement of the IPL 2024, as many as six players competed for the two spots.
So, let’s see who will reserve his position as the wicketkeeper in T20 World Cup 2024.
