The Philadelphia Eagles signed Kendall Milton in May as an undrafted free agent. After having a good preseason, Milton was released on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. With the regular season only a few short days away, Kendall Milton has found a new home on the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
Milton has a chance to be called up to the main roster by doing a few key things. Impress in the red zone during practice, and pass protect. If he does those two things he has a very good chance to be called up during the regular season.
Milton’s Collegiate Stats
During his four-year career at Georgia, Milton rushed the ball 297 times for 1,839 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns. He also chipped in 12 receptions for 116 yards and 1 more touchdown. During his senior season, Kendall Milton scored 14 touchdowns and averaged an outstanding 6.5 yards per carry. Throughout his entire career, his yards per carry stayed above 6, at a 6.2.
Possibility Of Joining Main Roster
Although the Bengals have three running backs they like in Zack Moss, Chase Brown, and Trayveon Williams the running back position is the position with the most question marks. Behind Zack Moss’ health, Chase Browns’ lack of experience, and Tayveon Williams always seemingly left on the bench, could Kendall Milton carve out a role for himself somewhere in the mix?
Kendall Milton isn’t going to blow you away with his speed, only running a 4.62 forty at the combine. He doesn’t have elite speed, but what he may lack in speed he makes up for with his build. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds he could play a role in the red zone, getting goal-line work.
Another possibility for Kendall Milton to make an impact is if he can pass block. Protecting Joe Burrow has to be the Cincinnati Bengals’ main priority. This seems to be the case with the additions to the offensive line they made this offseason. Anyone who can be a plus pass blocker should be a lock to be on the field to help protect Burrow.
Final Thoughts
The Cincinnati Bengals are expecting to do big things in 2024, to do those there are going to need to be some players that come out of nowhere to make an impact. With running back being the position with the most concern, it makes sense that a player like Kendall Milton could step up and make an impact at some point throughout the season. For Cincinnati to get to their ultimate goal of eventually winning a Super Bowl it starts with keeping no.9 protected, healthy, and on the field.
