Belal Muhammad recently fought for the welterweight title and won the championship. Belal is now the official Welterweight Champion, but in his career, he’s used to calling everyone out. Things have changed, and now people out there are calling him out.
Belal fought against Leon Edwards, who was the previous Welterweight Champion. He used his technical grappling and striking skills to overcome Edwards, and at last, Muhammad was named the new Welterweight Champion of the UFC.
Muhammad was trained by his Dagistani brothers, especially Khabib Nurmagomedov, who’s been coaching Belal for a long time now. As the Nurmagomedov family was undefeated, Muhammad also gained knowledge and training from the Dagistanis, and now he also seems to be indestructible. But fighters like Colby Covington are currently challenging and calling out Muhammad for a fight. However, he’s already lost a lot of title fights.
Colby Calling Out Belal Muhammad
Belal Muhammad quickly had fighters waiting to fight him, like the unbeaten Shavkat Rakhmonov after the great Edwards’s win at UFC 304 for the championship. Yet, he said that he would fight everyone and that no one would be left out, as he’s now the number one champion in the Welterweight Division. In this case, Belal Muhammad’s role is different from his other roles, in which he used to challenge other guys. With the UFC title now his, he has gone from being the challenging party to being challenged.
Just after becoming the great Welterweight Champion, people started calling Belal Muhammad out. This includes a certain fighter who’s already lost three fights for the title, Colby Covington.
“It’s funny. He’s the biggest clown in the UFC; it’s embarrassing to see how he’s trying to grasp for any sort of attention and say anything. ‘Let me catch him outside.’ Bro, I wish I had seen you outside. Let’s see what you would do. I called him out in 2017 when I fought in Australia. This guy’s a coward,” Bela boasted.
Colby Covington Refuses to Fight
Colby Covington was scheduled to fight Ian Garry, but he refused to fight Ian because he thought that he was much more powerful than Garry and it would waste his time. But he would’ve achieved a lot if he had fought and won. Belal Muhammad also pointed this out, saying, “He shied away from that Ian Garry fight. He said it wasn’t worth his time. If he had won that fight, his name could have been right back in the mix. So now he looks dumb; he’s a clown.”
What’s more: Belal Muhammad said that it would be difficult for Colby to call out anybody now because nobody wants to fight him. “I’m wondering what he’s going to do next. There’s nobody out there that I see him saying yes to. He’s going to wait and hope that Tony Ferguson comes back and fights one more fight, and then he’s going to win that and say, ‘See, I deserve to be in there; look what I just did to Tony Ferguson!”
That’s because Tony Ferguson is going to retire because of his old age and weak body. What do you think about the challengers for the UFC welterweight title? Who’s going to fight Belal Muhammad next? Let us know your opinion in the comment section.
