Barcelona Pregame Activities Gave Unexpected Twist Before 3-Goal Loss

Barcelona

Barcelona has a bitter history with Paris Saint Germain, as they took the mighty PSG side to Parc Des Princes in the Champions League Quarter Finals Leg 1 and defeated them 3-2. Raphina’s double brace brought Barcelona the advantage to move forward and gave them a final touch in the second leg. Somehow, as the Spotify Camp Nou was under construction the match took place in Olimpic Lluis Companys stadium in Barcelona. Both teams are determined to face and tremble each other ahead of their clash.

However, as the bus arrived for both of the teams, Barca fans with the whole ground outside the stadium full of noise, red flame lights, and smoke surrounded the atmosphere of the area. As the bus arrived, Barcelona fans full of passion and aggression against the visiting side started throwing rocks and flames at the bus. Little did they know, it turned out to be Barcelona’s bus.

Barcelona Unplanned Events

Fans even started cursing at their own team while the bus was just passing by. This just made an awkward situation for the club and their fans. This might be a bizarre thing to witness as the intensity level between these two clubs is too high but it makes a funny moment and statement to the Barcelona fans anonymously stabbing their own club in their backs.

How did it backfire for Barcelona?

Barcelona already had a lead in the first half. Which almost made it simpler for Barca to move on with a closing victory. As the match started both of the clubs started to move back and forth. In the 12th Raphinha with a brilliant tap-in in secured a 2-goal lead on aggregate. The scoreline moved up to 1-0 for Barca, moving up to 29th-minute Araujo fouls on Barcola. Luckily, he fouls him outside the box and PSG receives a free kick but Dembele shoots it just over the bar.

In the 40th minute, Barca delivers a wonderful ball in for Ousmane Dembele to finish a fantastic goal for PSG. 1-1 for Paris Saint Germain as they trailed only one goal behind Barcelona. After a while Vitinha fires a shot a the net in the 54th minute doubling it for PSG as they square up the aggregate.

Kylian Mbappe scores twice to get a big lead on the aggregate in the 61st and 89th minutes, leaving Barcelona fans into despair and fathom. The after-scenes of the match determined how Barcelona fans were dragged into weeping and Lamine Yamal after getting subbed off was seen into frustration and tears.

The match statistics between both the clubs were genuinely dominated by PSG. However, they had more possession, shots, shots on target, and passes. Barca did well in their first game but was sloppy afterward. PSG had more chances to cross the ball and take the shots luckily the shots were blocked by Barca defenders like Kounde, Cubarsi, and Cancelo. Somehow, the game was meant for Paris Saint Germain to come out with a big victory against Barcelona.

Deja Vu for Barcelona’s ex-player

Ousmane Dembele was seen to be enjoying every moment of Barca’s defeat. Even after getting subbed off by Luis Enrique he was seen to be smiling with cold expression. Although even Barcelona fans were chanting abuse to Dembele after getting subbed off. This replicates the Figo incident where he chose to leave Barcelona for Real Madrid for a lot of money. Meanwhile, when he faces their rivals Barca fans in the El Classico, fans throw bottles and even a Pig’s head on the ex-Barcelona player while he attempts to take a corner. This might show how Dembele and Figo are related by living rent-free in the minds of the Barca fans.
