Barça Suffer Massive Blow As Olmo Will Miss 4-5 Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Dani Olmo injured for Barcelona

Barcelona’s forward Dani Olmo faces a setback as he has been sidelined for up to five weeks due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by the Catalan club on Monday. The Spanish international was substituted in the second half during Sunday’s commanding 4-1 victory over Girona. However, subsequent assessments at the training ground on Monday have confirmed that he will be sidelined for a minimum of a month.

Barcelona has announced that Dani Olmo will be out of action for as long as five weeks due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old showcased his scoring ability in Sunday’s 4-1 league victory over Girona, but his performance was cut short as he appeared to experience muscle discomfort, leading to his substitution in the 61st minute.

Olmo was signed by RB Leipzig for a hefty €55 million ($61.2 million). He missed the opening two matches of the season due to registration issues. However, Dani Olmo has since made his mark, featuring in all three subsequent games. He has scored three goals in those matches, and only Robert Lewandowski has found the back of the net more times than him with four goals.

Where This Leaves Barcelona

Although Olmo had a promising debut for Barça, he is now out with an injury. His injury poses a significant challenge for Hansi Flick’s squad as they prepare for their Champions League opener against Monaco on Thursday. The team has already showcased their dominance in La Liga, boasting an impressive record of five wins from five matches.

The 26-year-old will be sidelined for at least six games until the international break in October. Olmo adds his name to an extensive injury roster that features Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, and Fermín López.

Olmo Crucial Part Of High-flying Barcelona

Dani Olmo scored his third goal for Barcelona this weekend against Girona. 17-year-old Lamine Yamal found the back of the net twice at Montivili propelling Barça to a commanding victory. This impressive performance brings their season goal tally to 17 after just five matches under the guidance of new coach Hansi Flick. It had been so long since Barcelona scored so many goals at this point in the season. The last they scored 17 goals was in 2017-18 when Lionel Messi was still with the team. Before the Messi era, one has to look back to the 1959–60 season to find the last time Barcelona scored as many goals in their first five league games.

We want to press so that the opposition feel weighed down, Lamine Yamal said. Playing for Barça means [wanting] to win everything and we want to win every game possible because if you want to win LaLiga, that is what you have to do. “I am sure the Barça fans will enjoy themselves this season. That’s what we want and will try to achieve, above all by winning games.

Barcelona’s goals have been distributed among several players this season. Leading the charge is Robert Lewandowski, currently the league’s top scorer with four goals. He is closely followed by Yamal and Olmo, each contributing three to the tally. Yamal has made a significant impact on the pitch, notching up four assists in just five matches. He currently tops the league in goal contributions, boasting a total of seven, edging out his teammate Lewandowski by one.
