Over the past few years, the Boston Celtics have been a consistent winning team. The team hasn’t missed the playoffs since a bad year in 2014 where they had a horrible record of 25-57. Despite that one blemish, the Celtics have been considered one of the most dominant teams in the NBA over recent years. Their consistency has given them many opportunities to make it to the Finals.
However, they are missing something. That something is Banner 18. The last time the Cs added to the rafters was in the fantastic 2008 run with the Big Three. This new era of Boston Celtics players needs a championship to finally solidify the winning legacy of this team in the 2000s.

There are a decent number of superstars who are considered some of the best to do it, but they don’t have any championships. The list includes Carmelo Anthony, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson. These players are still thought of as stars. However, there are always comments thrown around about how they never lifted the Larry O’Brien Trophy and how this affected the legacy they have.
The only way Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be acknowledged as a top-tier duo and NBA superstars is if they get Boston their banner. If it doesn’t happen in the 2023-24 season, the discussions of trading one of them will ramp up again as they do every other season they get knocked out of the playoffs. This is the year that it has to happen if they want to finally silence their biggest critics.
A Boston Celtics Super Team

Brad Stevens has managed to build a nightmare roster for other teams. With the new addition of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday and the 2021-22 Derrick White grab it’s clear that the Boston Celtics want a championship soon. These three players have added amazing depth to the team. The defense has grown immensely, and the offense is extremely smooth now.
Over recent years super teams have been frowned upon due to their inability to meet expectations. So far, this Boston Celtics roster is flying high and well above the bar set for them. Now, they just need that magical Finals run to do something recent super teams haven’t been able to.
What a Ring Would Mean for This Team

The only player on the Boston Celtics to have a ring is Jrue Holiday, who raised a banner with the Milwaukee Bucks. Every other player on this team is hunting for their first championship. It’s safe to say that every player on this team wants a chip. However, the player who probably wants it the most is Al Horford.
Horford is 37 and has been playing in the league for 17 seasons. He’s played for the Celtics for six of these seasons. In his career he has been to the playoffs 15 times out of his 17 seasons. However, he has never won a ring. This year could be a very special one for Horford. There is a good chance he’ll retire very soon, and I believe every single Boston Celtics fan wants to see this player finally win his ring and lift Banner 18.
