If history is any indication, Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson is set for his third career NFL MVP award. The All-Pro voting was announced earlier today and Jackson was named the first-team selection. Being the first team All-Pro quarterback has won every MVP Award since Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson won the award in 2012.
The All-Pro voting was not particularly close as Jackson had 30 votes, Buffalo Bills Quarterback had 18, and Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow had 2. Jackson is eyeing his third career MVP and his second consecutive one. Jackson had arguably the best season of his career during the 2024-25 regular season. He was 8th in passing yards, tied for 2nd in touchdown passes, and led the league in QBR. Will Jackson win another MVP in a few weeks?

The Baltimore Ravens and Jackson are looking to finally get over the hump in the AFC this playoffs. Jackson has been one of the best quarterbacks during the regular season, but he has not been at his best in the postseason. He has never played a great playoff game in his career. Jackson is 2-4 in the postseason and has a completion percentage of 57.4 with 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. All these statistics are a far cry from his regular season performance.
Baltimore begins the postseason against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night. Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens went 1-1 against the Steelers this year. He fared well against them with 414 passing yards, 4 passing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Jackson has struggled against the Steelers in his career overall and will look to accomplish two things in the marquee matchup. He can exorcise his playoff demons and knock out his fiercest rival from the postseason.
Final Thoughts
Jackson’s All-Pro selection has not swayed the NFL MVP odds. Allen had been the odds-on favorite to win the award for the last few months, and that remained the case following today’s announcement. It seems like the betting markets are not placing much of an emphasis on recent NFL MVP history.
Jackson’s MVP case is relatively cut and dry. He had a better statistical season than Allen. The only thing that would stand in the way of the star Baltimore Ravens QB winning his third career award is a lack of postseason success. If Jackson wins his third career MVP, it would ring hollow if he struggles during the playoffs for another year.
