Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson Makes History In Week 15

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson continued his spectacular 2024 season and made history earlier today against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens prevailed 34-17 and Jackson tossed 3 touchdowns to set a new career high with 37 touchdown passes. This win also clinched a spot in the NFL Playoffs for the Baltimore Ravens. It is their third straight year making the postseason.

Jackson, a two-time MVP coming off winning the award last year, is having the best season of his illustrious career. He is second in the league in passing yards and overtook Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow for the most passing touchdowns in the National Football League today. Will Jackson be able to keep up his MVP-caliber play as the Ravens eye a successful playoff run?

Baltimore Ravens Season Summary

Saturday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers improved Baltimore’s record to 10-5 and tied them with the Steelers atop the AFC North. Pittsburgh holds the division lead due to a better conference record. As is always the case, the Baltimore Ravens have one of the league’s best offenses. They are leading the league in total yards, second in rushing yards per game, and third in points per game. Running Back Derrick Henry is also having a spectacular regular season as he is second in the NFL in rushing yards. His 162 rushing yards helped Baltimore win on Saturday.

Baltimore’s defense, after struggling to begin the year has played much better as of late. They are 17th in yards allowed and 22nd in points allowed. Even with a late-season surge under first-year Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr, Baltimore’s defense is the most vulnerable it has been in years.

Final Thoughts

Jackson is one of the league’s best players and continues to raise the bar on his quality of play. Even though Jackson is playing the best football of his career, he is behind Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen as the MVP favorite. The Baltimore Ravens have two more losses than the Buffalo Bills, and Jackson has consistently come up short in the NFL Playoffs. While the MVP is strictly a regular season award, postseason performance coming into play is not unheard of.

Jackson will look to keep up his high level of play and exorcise his playoff demons. If he can do that, whether he wins a second consecutive MVP award or not, will become secondary. Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens visit the Houston Texans on Christmas Day and host the Cleveland Browns to close out the regular season.
