BREAKING: Baltimore Ravens, 3-Time Pro Bowl Safety Have Free Agency Meeting

Baltimore Ravens Seattle Seahawks Jamal Adams

The veteran safety is looking for a new home, as the former Seattle Seahawk Jamal Adams visits the Baltimore Ravens today on Tuesday, May 21st.

The 28-year-old free agent has not been healthy the past two seasons, only playing in 10 total games, but it could be a worthwhile gamble for the Ravens. Baltimore needs another safety behind Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton, with Geno Stone signing with the division rival Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.

For a contract to be offered to Adams, his passing the physical would be key to see what shape he is in and if he is fully healthy. This is along with what type of money he is looking for, as I wouldn’t expect it to be much, as one of the last remaining notable names still on the market.

Jamal Adams in Baltimore would give the Ravens one of the best secondaries in the NFL if it were to happen.

The Baltimore Ravens would be getting a former All-Pro and 3-time Pro Bowler at the safety position to back up a young star like Hamilton in Adams. He would also see enough time and mentor Hamilton, as they rotate safeties just as much, if not more, than any other team in the NFL.

This rotation also had Hamilton see some looks as a nickel corner blitzing and in the box for run support, with Stone roaming on the backend last year, who is now with the Bengals.

Adams would be able to do some of those box safety things at 6’1″ and 213 pounds as one of the harder-hitting safeties in the NFL.

The highly touted defensive back has not lived up to the hype after he was traded to Seattle from the New York Jets, where he was drafted 6th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. During the first two seasons as a Seahawk, Adams only played 12 games both years but had a career-high in sacks with 9.5 in 2020 and 2 interceptions in 2021.

While this type of potential signing reminds me of the shades from Earl Thomas, yes, I know, it’s scarring stuff for a Ravens fan. However, this would be done at a way lower number, and Baltimore needs a proven player in case Williams or Hamilton get hurt again, like in 2023.

I would pounce on this type of signing if I knew Jamal Adams is fully healthy heading into the 2024 NFL season.
