The Baltimore Ravens crushed the Buffalo Bills 35-10 in a huge win in their race to get back into playoff contention in the American Football Conference versus the Buffalo Bills. The Bills picked up their first loss of the season and are now 3-1, while the Ravens move to 2-2.
It was not good from the start for the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo was embarrassed from the first snap to the last. The Baltimore Ravens came out with an excellent game plan and capitalized on it throughout the game.
Baltimore Ravens Crush Buffalo Bills
Baltimore’s offense came out of the gates red hot. Quarterback Lamar Jackson handed the ball off to running back Derrick Henry, who scored on the first play from scrimmage on offense. The Ravens seemingly could move the ball down the field without issues through the first half of the game. Play after play, Baltimore was moving down the field. Buffalo’s defense was trying hard to find answers to stop Derrick Henry but they were not successful. At the half, Baltimore led by 18 points.
On the other side of the ball, Baltimore’s defense shut down Buffalo’s offense. The game plan seemed easy: force MVP frontrunner Josh Allen to take check-downs. The Bills offense did not seize the opportunity to take what the defense gave them. While the blame cannot be on just the offense, they did not help. Penalties and injuries hurt the Bills throughout the game. The team looked flat from the first offensive play for the Ravens. They gave up big play after big play to a hot Ravens offense.
Injuries Hurt The Bills In Crushing Loss
Injuries plagued the Bills throughout the game. The team lost their fourth defensive starter this season early in the first half as safety Taylor Rapp left the game and did not return with a concussion. Other losses throughout the game were center Connor McGovern who was evaluated for concussion-like symptoms. WR Khalil Shakir had his foot stepped on but returned quickly for the Bills. QB Josh Allen seemed to pick up an injury but quickly brushed off the athletic training staff. We will keep you updated throughout the week if any injury updates are noted.
Positive Notes
Wide receiver Khalil Shakir set an NFL record with 29 straight targets caught, surpassing WR Michael Thomas for most since at least 1991. Buffalo selected Shakir in the fifth round of the 2022 season out of Boise State. Shakir set the record on the first series for the Bills on offense. Unfortunately, Shakir’s streak ended in the second half of the game.
Final thoughts
First, hats off to the Baltimore Ravens for their game plan in their crushing win over the Bills. After playing in primetime the last three weeks, Buffalo finally goes back to the 1:00 pm Eastern time slot. The Bills will travel to Texas to take on their former number-one wide receiver Stefon Diggs and the Houston Texans. Buffalo will look to put this crushing loss behind them. Several key defensive players could be back for the Bills this week. CB Taron Johnson and LB Terrel Bernard are nearing returns from various injuries. Could they make a return in week five? Let’s get back on track and crush Houston!
