The franchise has signed several experienced internationals. In addition to Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir and middle-order batsman Asif Ali will also be key areas of gain for the side. Hence, the reintroduction of these experienced players could only improve on-field results.

Other international entrants also add depth to the squad: New Zealand’s Michael Rippon, South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius, Ruben (Namibia), and Jeremy Gordon in Guyana. The most significant appointment is Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of the Vancouver Knights. He bats well, and he keeps the wickets. His pressure-handling ability makes him useful to the team. The Vancouver Knights made the announcement, indicating an eagerness to hand him over the responsibilities of leading his side toward victory in GT20 Canada 2024.

However, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are both eyeing redemption after Pakistan’s group-stage exit at the T20 World Cup. The duo can use the upcoming GT20 tournament as a big stage to find their touch again and prove their prowess. In the T20 World Cup, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan particularly came under fire for their displays. While Babar had a good average, his strike rate was questioned.

Rizwan’s form, on the other hand, was stubborn but was found lacking from an aggressive outlook of T20 cricket. Although they won their remaining two matches, Pakistan’s campaign concluded with losses against the USA and India. These performances have put both players up for a grand comeback in the GT20 Canada 2024 as well.

The Knights have a mix of experience and youth, hoping to kick off their season in winning fashion. Babar Azam is also expected to be the lynchpin of their batting strategy, paired with Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the slogging order.
