In the ongoing T20 World Cup cricket event, the host nation, Pakistan, lost in a very close contest out of nowhere to co-host the USA courtesy of a Super Over. During the post-match conference, the skipper, Babar Azam, discussed his team’s weaknesses as well as the match’s turning point.

Babar Azam’s Honest Assessment

Babar Azam did not shy away from a frank assessment of Pakistan‘s performance across all three departments. In cricket, they participate in activities such as batting, bowling, and fielding. He accepted their inadequacy, especially in specific sections of play when it was most vital to offer the best performance.

“There are definitely issues that our team has not delivered well enough across the three departments. The bowling has not been able to get early wickets, and the spinners are not able to do much damage in the middle overs, which puts a lot of pressure on us. credit to the US side for how they finished the game in the Super Over. ”

We were already missing Babar Azam’s form on the pitch, and he ordered the players to take responsibility as professionals; they were against stern testimonies from rivals. To this, Mr. Maphaka quickly replied that, as professionals, they have to rise to such circumstances, adding that it is not an equivalent that they played well while they were so poor.

In the defeat, Babar was not hopeless but hopeful. While accepting that it was a letdown, he also knew that there was a lot of work to be done. I am fine. If you lose a match, then you remain upset. We have to work on our fielding, bowling, and striking power, as Babar observed.

The Match Overview

It was a real exhilarating showdown that can be quite expected when two titans meet on the field—the spectacle that happened in the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Pakistan faced initial issues as they were in some trouble at the score of 26/3 before the good stand of Babar Azam and Shadab Khan.

However, the momentum shifted again when Shadab Khan was dismissed while attempting a sweep shot over a short, fine leg. Babar Azam highlighted this as a critical moment that turned the game in favor of the USA.

“The first six overs were challenging with the ball holding and swinging. But as we built partnerships, our momentum grew. Losing wickets back-to-back was the turning point. We had the momentum, but we lost it due to losing wickets,” Babar explained.

The unfamiliar conditions in Dallas played a significant role in Pakistan’s downfall. The batters struggled to spend time at the crease, and the bowlers failed to find their rhythm. Additionally, fielding errors allowed the USA to maintain pressure until the final three overs.
