Following Pakistan’s recent failure, Babar Azam’s white-ball captaincy is at risk. Former Pakistan cricketers have questioned Babar’s leadership and captaincy abilities.
Kirsten has already filed a report on Pakistan’s terrible World Cup performance, which has raised various problems. On July 3, sources told Total Apex Sports that he submitted a “confidential” evaluation report to the PCB.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi called white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten to discuss the team’s future.

The conference is being organized in response to recent criticism from certain fans and former Pakistan players of the Men in Green‘s performance in the T20 World Cup.
In the recent tournament, the Babar Azam-led side had a disastrous performance. They failed to qualify for Super Eight. Last week, ESPNcricinfo revealed that white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten and selector Wahab Riaz had submitted tour reports to Naqvi.
Naqvi will study the report presented by Kirsten. The study focuses on players’ discipline, game awareness, and fitness, among other factors.
The national team’s poor performance drew harsh criticism from fans and veteran cricketers alike. This caused the PCB chairman to announce a “major surgery” on Babar Azam’s team.
However, the board chose to wait for Kirsten and senior manager Wahab Riaz’s reports before making any decisions about the team’s future. After reviewing the report, the PCB president would speak with other board officials and former cricketers before deciding on the next steps.
It was also claimed that the most crucial topic of discussion will be Babar Azam’s future as Pakistan’s white-ball skipper.
PCB’s Response and Future Plans
Following Pakistan’s recent failure, Babar Azam’s white-ball leadership came under scrutiny. Former Pakistan cricketers have questioned Babar’s leadership and captaincy abilities.
Last Thursday, Naqvi clarified Babar Azam’s future as Pakistan’s captain, stating that no decision had been taken about him.
“There has, however, been no decision made so far regarding Babar Azam,” the senior cricket official, who also serves as the country’s interior minister, told reporters in Lahore.
“I’m only speaking to those former cricketers interested in the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” the captain stated.
Last week, Geo News claimed that about 30-35 foreign cricketers will meet with the PCB chairman on Monday. They will provide comments and ideas to strengthen the domestic cricket setup in the country.
Upcoming Changes and Future Series

Previously, Kirsten raised concerns about the players’ fitness levels. He claimed they were inadequate. Following their elimination from the Globe Cup, the coach noted that the team’s ability level was substantially lower than the rest of the globe.
“In spite of playing so much cricket, no one understands which shot to play and when,” he added, adding that only players who respect unity, prioritize health, and strive to enhance their skill set would be considered for future roster spots.
Pakistan began their T20 World Cup campaign with a Super Over loss over co-hosts the USA. India, Pakistan’s arch-foe, added to their difficulties. They defeated Babar Azam’s team in a low-scoring thriller in which they failed to chase down the 120-run goal.
Pakistan recovered to winning ways. They defeated Canada and Ireland in their final two games. However, their late push was unable to secure their tickets to the Super 8 stage in the Caribbean.
Because there is a significant break between Pakistan‘s next white-ball series. The management will have plenty of time to make the required changes to improve their cricket.
Pakistan’s next white-ball series will be against Australia in November, following their heartbreaking T20 World Cup exit.
