32-Year-Old Atlético Madrid Striker May Look To Move If He’s Not Guaranteed To Be A “Priority Of The Club”

Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament

Atletico Madrid is one of the top teams in the entire world, especially Spain. They always contend for domestic titles, trophies, and international competitions to bring home the glory back to their clubhouse. But, one of the most pivotal players for the club, and for the Spanish national team, feels a little undervalued as of late.

The Spain captain feels as if this might be his last season currently at Atletico Madrid due to discomfort in the dressing room, feeling unappreciated, and lack of transparency regarding his future at Atletico. Will he stay for one more year, or will he wind down the latter years of his playing days somewhere else?

One of the most pivotal players to ever put on the Atletico Madrid jersey is the 32-year-old Spain captain, Alvaro Morata. Morata could be considering going elsewhere next year, as he only has a few years left in his playing days and hopes to continue scoring and getting on the scoresheet throughout the year.

But, that doesn’t mean that he has fallen flat in La Liga. In fact, it is just the opposite. He feels as if he isn’t slowing down anytime soon and hopes that the manager will see he is playing his best football. Morata scored an incredible 21 goals in the best-ever season for the player, showing that age is just a number. He scored more than 20 goals this last campaign, earning him a spot in the Spanish national team – and as the captain – for the upcoming Euros in Germany this July. Surely the domestic club coach would see his performance and understand that he is at the height of his career.

But, even so, the Spanish captain’s future is tenuous at best with Atletico Madrid. Madrid is still in the market looking to sign a prolific goal scorer who can get them on the board every single game, with the club having had multiple talks with Dovbyk in Girona. Atletico Madrid having conversations with other players, clubs, and agents doesn’t sit well with Morata, who feels as if he has done enough for Atletico Madrid to show his loyalty and promise for the next few years.

‘I see in the press that Atletico Madrid wants to sign eight strikers, I will be clear…it looks like I’m not the priority of the club. The easier way for me is to leave Spain and go play abroad. Even my kids do not understand the criticism I suffer here. I have zero problems with Simeone. But I don’t know if I’m in his plans…’

Morata joined Atletico Madrid back in 2020 after appearing in 49 matches for the team during his loan spell from Chelsea in the 2019 season. During this one-year period, he made almost 50 appearances on the pitch and scored 18 goals in the process. Atletico Madrid liked him so much they decided to purchase him from Chelsea in 2020 for around $60 million.

Since joining the club a few years ago, he has made almost 70 appearances and scored 28 goals for his club. He also decided to go on loan to Juventus in the same domestic league between 2020 and 2022, earning 67 appearances and scoring 20 goals during his time in Turin.

Now, he looks to stay at Atletico Madrid to round out his career. However, if Someone decides that Morata is not in the cards for the club, then he may go elsewhere to continue scoring goals.
