Breaking: Atlanta Braves Superstar Tears ACL; Done For 2024 Season

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves’ quest for a World Series in 2024 took a major hit on Sunday. Early in the game, Ronald Acuna Jr. went down with a non-contact injury between second and third base. He exited the game, and the team said he had knee soreness. In his interview after the game, Acuna Jr. said he did not feel a pop, and there was optimism he would be out only for a short time. It made it even more devastating when the team announced he had torn his ACL and was out for the season.

The reigning National League MVP made a break for third base and quickly pivoted back to second base. In that pivot, Ronald Acuna Jr. tore his ACL. He was able to walk off under his own power but was visibly limping. After the game, he said he hoped he would miss only a month. Now, the Atlanta Braves will be without their superstar for the rest of the year.

Ronald Acuna Jr. was not having a fantastic season in 2024. His .250/.351/.716 slash line and four home runs is well below his usual pace. However, it doesn’t mean he was not important to the team. He still had 16 stolen bases and 15 RBIs. While the production hasn’t been there, his presence in the lineup has had a huge impact on this team.

Can This Team Win A World Series?

It is going to be tough for the Atlanta Braves to win a World Series in 2024. Already, they trail the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies by 6.5 games. They have won the division for the last five years but now seem to be fighting for a wild card spot. With the number of quality teams in the National League, getting one of those coveted spots is going to be difficult.

The Atlanta Braves have a tall task ahead of them. They already lost star pitcher Spencer Strider and now have lost Ronald Acuna Jr. It is a huge blow to fans who were hoping this team could capture a World Series in 2024. There are still many games and anything can happen but things just got harder for the Braves.
