Atlanta Braves Starting Pitcher Has Wonderful Outing On June 4

The Atlanta Braves Max Fried had a dominant outing on Tuesday.

Atlanta Braves Starting Pitcher Max Fried dominated on the road last night against the Boston Red Sox. Max Fried tossed seven innings and surrendered two earned runs while mustering a career-high 13 strikeouts as Atlanta cruised to an 8-3 victory.  He came out of the gates firing on all cylinders as he struck out the side in the bottom of the first inning. Fried had three strikeouts in three separate half innings on Tuesday night.

Fried built on a spectacular start his last time out on May 28 when he tossed eight scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals. Fried had a great May on the bump and got off to a stellar start in June. Fried is 6-2 this season with an ERA of 2.93. His 2.93 ERA is the 18th-best in Major League Baseball.

How will Fried fare the next time he takes the mound?

Max Fried Career Summary

Fried made his debut in 2017 as a member of the Atlanta Braves and has been with the team for the entirety of his career. He is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner(2020-22) and a one-time MLB All-Star(2022). He was also a crucial part of the Atlanta Braves team that won the 2021 World Series.

The best year of Fried’s career came in 2022 when he finished second in CY Young Award voting behind Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins. Fried also finished fifth in the CY Young voting in 2020. Trevor Bauer won go onto the award in the pandemic-shortened season.

Fried has a career record of 68-28 with an ERA OF 3.02.

Atlanta Braves Season Summary

Atlanta(34-24) is second in the National League East seven games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have a firm grasp on the first National Wild Card spot. Atlanta has had one of the best offenses in this league this regular season. They are eighth in batting average, 16th in home runs, and 12th in runs scored. Their offense is led by Designated Hitter Marcell Ozuna who leads the Atlanta Braves in virtually every offensive category. Ozuna is eighth in the league in batting average, fourth in home runs, and second in RBI.

Atlanta’s offense took a huge hit when Right Fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. suffered a torn ACL that will sideline the rest of the 2024 season on May 26. Even though the reigning MVP was struggling this season, he is one of the league’s best players and will be sorely missed by the Atlanta Braves.

The pitching staff of the Braves has also gotten off to a strong start this season. They are eighth in ERA, have surrendered the second-fewest home runs, and are 15th in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Chris Sale has experienced a career resurgence in the “Peach State.” He is second in the league in wins and top 10 in both strikeouts and WHIP. Closer Raisel Iglesias is also sixth in the league with 15 saves.

When Will Fried Take The Mound Next?

The next scheduled start for Max Fried is on Sunday, June 9, on the road against the Washington Nationals. Fried will look to build upon his last start against the Nationals when he stifled their offense.

The Atlanta Braves finish off their three-game set with the Boston Red Sox before continuing their road trip with a four-game series against the Nations beginning on Thursday.
