The Atlanta Braves have come out of the gates miserably to begin the 2025 season. They have started 0-7 and are in trouble this early in the year. No team in the league history has ever made the postseason after an 0-7 start. It has also been 42 years since a team has finished above .500 following such a poor start. Will the Atlanta Braves be able to get on track soon?
Atlanta Braves Season Summary
Atlanta’s first two opponents have gotten off to historic starts. Part of that could be the fact they had Atlanta to play against. The Los Angeles Dodgers started 7-0 while the San Diego Padres were 6-0. Atlanta has been outscored 32-14 this season.
The Braves are always one of the league’s best teams, so this start has been shocking. They had the second-best World Series odds on Opening Day. Atlanta has done nothing right early in the year. They are last in batting average, 28th in runs scored, and 23rd in home runs. Atlanta’s pitching staff has also been poor. They are 26th in ERA, 24th in opposing batting average, and 19th in strikeouts. There is no reason with Atlanta to be this bad with marquee players like Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna, and Chris Sale on its roster.
Final Thoughts
Atlanta looks to get in the win column Friday night when they welcome the Miami Marlins to town for the first game of a three-game set. The Braves will look to buck history by being the first team to make the MLB Playoffs after such a poor start.
