Aston Villa Confirm Transfer Of Jaden Philogene For £13M

Aston Villa might have gotten into a fight with United over Onana, but they knew they had this one in the bag. Villa was able to sign Philogene for just over $1 million for an absolute steal in the summer transfer window. Aston Villa will be thrilled to sign such an exciting and dynamic player to their squad list to hopefully recapture fourth place, or better, this Premier League season.

At only $1 million, the record is a great deal. Many big-name players go for in the dozens of millions of dollars — and Philogene is worth much more than this price tag. Villa will be thrilled to save money, get a lucrative offer, and utilize an up-and-coming player who is turning heads around the world.

Jadeon Philogene is one of the most exciting young players in the game at the moment. Born in Hammersmith in London, he was born to be a professional footballer. He began his youth career at Aston Villa at 16 years old and stayed at the club until he was 19. Then, he decided to make a few loan moves that would spur on his exciting pathway, getting minutes and game time at Stoke City and Cardiff City between 2022 and 2023.

Next, he decided to make the huge move to Hull City in 2023 to get minutes for the senior team in the Championship, where he made 32 appearances and scored an impressive 12 goals — still only 21 years old. Now, he has gone back to his boyhood club Villa to sign for his team, score goals, and make an impact at the place where he grew up.

Philogene isn’t just a promising player for his club — he also has made eight appearances for the England youth international teams throughout his teenage years, showing just how prolific he is for his country AND his club. Villa will hope to see the sparks of greatness that Pigeon has shown at the international level and for Hull City when he scored a dozen goals in just one season.

Aston Villa Next Year

But, how good is Aston Villa going to be next season? Will they recreate the fourth-place finishes they earned this past year? Only time will tell. Villa ended their last 2023-2024 campaign with 68 points, finishing two points ahead of Tottenham and five points ahead of Chelsea — two teams in the Prem Who arguably have more stature than Villa.

They finished 14 points below third-place Liverpool, the Reds who were in title contention for most of the season. Despite letting in more than 60 goals in a single season, Villa still earned fourth place and managed to beat out big-name clubs with a +15-goal differential. Although they did well in terms of results, adding more goal-scoring players is key to being able to fight back in tough games.

Villa will kick off the new 2024-2025 Premier League season on August 18th against West Ham, a team that they beat out by more than five places last year. In pre-season, Villa faced off against Spartak Trnava, Columbus, RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, Club America, Athletic Club, and Borussia Dortmund, the Champions League finalists from last year. They finished an impressive fourth last season and look a confident team going into the next. Even though they missed out on the Champions League spot (due to Manchester United lifting the FA Cup), Aston Villa has a realistic chance to qualify once again.
