Aston Villa Could Lose Talented Winger to Al-Ittihad Next Season

The Saudi Pro League might be getting yet another Premier League player from Aston Villa for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Just like they did with Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and N’golo Kante from Chelsae, the Saudi League has taken so many great players from top-tier teams in the past season due to their insane contracts and lucrative deals.

It is no wonder tons of players, especially those who are getting older and towards the end of their careers, are considering a move to Saudi Arabia. It seems as though Al-Ittihad, one of the best teams in the country, might be able to sign an Aston Villa winger to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Al-Ittihad might have secured one of the most dangerous and threatening wingers in the Premier League to make the move to Saudi for next season. Moussa Diaby, an Aston Villa winger with a prolific career, is set to make the move to Al-Ittihad for the 2024-2025 season.

Diaby is a French footballer who is only 25 years old, making this a shock move for Aston Villa and for his agent. He is in the prime of his career and it seems a bit young for a talented footballer to go to Saudi Arabia, where the quality of football is much lower than that of the Prem in England, Ligue 1 in France, or La Liga in Spain.

Diaby started his youth career at Esperance Paris 193eme and progressed to Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, where he stayed in the youth system for four years. Having impressed at a young age, he went on to get appearances for both the PSG B team and the senior squad between 2017 and 2019. In 2018, he had a successful loan spell at Crotone, where he impressed and soon signed for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga in 2019.

For Bayer, he made 125 appearances and scored 31 goals in four seasons, making him a regular starter and key player for the German side. After four successful years, he moved to Aston Villa just last year, where he has made 38 appearances and scored six goals.

It comes as a bit of a shock to the Premier League side that a player they acquired just one year ago wants to move already. So, what is Aston Villa going to do now?

Aston Villa purchased Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen just one year ago to strengthen their attacking line and bolster their midfield to progress into the final third, whip in crosses, and score goals. The prolific attacker is a dynamic player who succeeded at Bayer in the Bundesliga, so Villa knew he would have no problem fitting into their team.

He came in and made an immediate impact. But, maybe money or promises of a different future swayed him into going to the Al-Ittihad side in Saudi.

Al-Ittihad is also trying to purchase more skilled players to make a super team for next season, including Aouar from Roma. Houssem Aouar is an Algerian footballer who is only 26 years old and has played for Lyon for several seasons, making 179 appearances and scoring 30 goals in his career. Now, it seems as though he will make the move to Saudi along with Diaby for next year.
