Asif’s Critique Amidst Sensational Babar Azam’s Captaincy Turmoil

Asif’s remarks are timely after the Pakistan cricket team is in the spotlight due to its poor performance at the T20 World Cup. Cricket lovers have called for a massive overhaul of the team due to the current unfavorable results and have also blamed the management for its woes.

In a recent interview on a local YouTube channel, former pacer Mohammad Asif expressed that he downloaded Babar Azam regarding his talent but said a lot of bad things about him being a national team skipper. Asif Introduces Criticism of Babar Azam’s Captaincy

The former pace bowler Mohammad Asif of Pakistan commented on the issue and stated:

To be honest, we only have Babar Azam at this adding, “He is above captaincy, and he shouldn’t run after it. I don’t know why he is after captaincy. Babar Azam is currently the backbone; even if he steps out of the circle, he will manage.

There could be an overhaul in Pakistan cricket soon, heading into a new generation after a highly disappointing T20 World Cup in 2024. This humiliating performance called for an early return of the team home after the shocking losses to the US and India, and this has forced the management of the team structure to take a critical look.

In the March Ashes series, the above-mentioned Pakistan Cricket Board is now contemplating making drastic amendments to bring back the changed team.

Babar Azam has been an exemplary leader at the tender age of 29 years, and at the time of writing the article, there were 85 T20I matches in which Pakistan had won 48 with a win percentage of  Still, he has not been able to provide his team-worthy leadership in major tournaments, though he has consistently captained the side in the shorter version of the game.

Nevertheless, even after the team’s early elimination in the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam and opener Mohammad Rizwan have not descended the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings.  Babar was ranked in the 4th position while the fifth position was bagged by Mohammad Rizwan. This retention points a finger at their solo abilities if each player on the team performs dismally.

It is always told to Babar Azam to polish his skills to play on the bigger platforms to serve his nation and to lead the Pakistan cricket team in crucial matches. However, along with these abilities, every team is required to have the best unity with each other and this is required to become the champion team in the cricket world.

India’s Rising Stars in the ICC  Rankings

Contrarily, a couple of new dup emerging for the Indian cricket team comprised the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings update. Against Zimbabwe in India, the team got a 4-1 series victory, and two of the team’s bright performers have registered considerable increases in the rankings.

A young and upcoming opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, was the biggest gainer of the series, moving up as many as four places to the 6th position behind the No. 1 ranked batter of the world, Travis Head, and the second-ranked Suryakumar Yadav. The series–leading run-scorer,run-scorer, Shubman Gill, has gained a place of 36 and is now in 37th position with 170 runs in five innings.
