Mourinho has ZERO Interest in Any AS Roma Players

AS Roma is a talented side in Italy that plays in the Serie A league, the top-tier division within the country. Many talented players come from this league or transfer to Italy throughout their career to boost their playing time, increase their skill on the ball, rejuvenate the confidence they may have lost being on the bench, or follow a favorite manager to a new team.

Jose Mourinho was the manager of AS Roma, the promising Italian outfit that challenged for the trophy every single year. Since he took his new role at Fenerbahce, he has made some conflicting statements about players he is looking to bring in to rejuvenate his new squad.

Mourinho is a tough manager. He was just recently unveiled as the new coach of Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig. Before this new assignment, he began his managerial career at Benfica and then went on to coach for other Spanish sides like Uniao de Leiria, Porto, and Real Madrid. He also coached at top-tier English sites like Chelsea – during two different stints – Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspurs up until 2021.

After leaving the Premier League in 2021, he became the manager of AS Roma for three years up until just this week. At AS Roma, Mourinho signed many new players upon his arrival, like Rui Patricio, Matias Vina, Tammy Abraham, and Roger Ibanez. He let several key first-team players go before they even took the field under his reign, such as Edin Dzeko, Pedro, and Juan Jesus.

Once he made a huge entrance at his new club, he then began to help AS Roma win games and trophies. He secured a qualification for the Europa Conference League, reached 1,000 games as a manager with AS Roma, and earned 43 consecutive unbeaten matches in the 2021 season.

He also guided Roma to their first European final in 2022 in the Europa Conference League, making him the only manager ever in the history of the football world to reach the final of three major European competitions with four different clubs.

Other accomplishments that Mourinho secured at AS Roma included winning the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League Final, reaching the second consecutive European final in 2023, and making it to the Europa League final in 2024 against Sevilla

Despite the good times he had at the club, it seems as though all turned sour towards the end. Roma had a limited transfer budget and poor financial means due to Financial Fair Play regulations, which hindered his ability to get the players he wanted for his squad. After a tough start to the year, with AS Roma near the relegation zone, Mourinho and the club decided it was time to part ways.

Mourinho just announced that he was the new manager at Fenerbahce in Turkey. He held a press conference and presentation at the home ground for the Turkish Super Lig club to talk about rumors surrounding new players coming into the squad, signings, and plans for the upcoming year.

There were even talks about potentially signing Lukaku or Dybala from the Italian sides. But, Mourinho quickly dispelled that rumor before it even began.

‘Let me be clear: I have zero interest in any player from AS Roma.’

It seems as though any player from Serie A, or at least AS Roma, has no shot of making it to this Turkish Super Lig team while Mourinho is the head coach.
