Title rivals clash, Manchester City and Arsenal draw, leading Liverpool to claim the top of the table over the weekend. Arsenal recorded a second clean sheet against Pep’s team this season, claiming second place, one point away from Manchester City. Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the second goal to seal their comeback win against Brighton at Anfield.
Arsenal Held a Draw at Etihad
The game started with an intense atmosphere while both teams tried to grab the three points to claim the top of the table. Manchester City started strongly, dominating most of the first half. However, the first chance to turn the tables at Etihad was when Nathan Ake shouldered a corner to Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, but it was saved. The Dutchman came off the field minutes later and was replaced by Lewis.
On the other side, Arsenal had clear chances, but none conceded a goal to claim the three points at the Etihad. Gabriel Jesus fired two shots that went wide in the first half. He also failed to score an inviting cross from Bukayo Saka narrowly. Halaand, the normally reliable City striker, needed to make more contact with the ball but failed to have a simple finish from Josko Gvardiol’s header late in the game.
The highly prolific clash left both teams goalless in the 90th minute of the game. Whether the game was an important opportunity or ended with an important point, Liverpool is two points clear of Arsenal. Liverpool is at the summit with 67 points, Arsenal are closely following the Reds with 65 points, and Citizen is third with 64 points.

None Were Happy With the Result
“No way can you be fully happy (with just a point),” Arteta told Sky Sports. “Listen, I think we have made a big step today. Coming to these big places, not a lot of teams have done what we have done today, especially when there is a lot at stake and the pressure elevates. To respond to it is another step.”
“Tough game. Take the point and onto the next,” Guardiola told the BBC. “They make a really good pressing. They are masters of that. It is what it is. In the end, we tried. They have top players in defense, defending perfectly compactly. Low block. We tried.”
Arsenal destroyed Pep Guardiola’s men to hold a 0-0 draw at Etihad. The prolific Manchester City were nullified to a 0-0 draw for the first time at Etihad in the 76 Premier League games after a 0-2 draw against Crystal Palace in October 2021. “We want all three points, obviously, and we tried our best to get the win, but we’ll take the point and move on,” Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard said.
