Arsenal vs. Liverpool Match Preview

Arsenal

Two of the Premier League heavyweights, Arsenal and Liverpool, will take on each other on 1st August. As both of them are up for a fresh start. Despite the attempts they made not to let Manchester City take the Premier League title and failing miserably, they look for a new friendly challenge. Arsenal are looking fresh in these friendlies after defeating Manchester United 2-1, as two of the goal scorers, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, are seeking back the form they seem to have lost.

On the other hand, Liverpool, who defeated Real Betis in the friendlies, seems to work well under Arne Slot. However, the new manager is currently inactive to sign any players in the transfer window as he believes he has time to assess the talents he inherited from Jurgen Klopp. The fair point could be proven wrong as Arsenal’s new signing Ricardo Calafiori could take a step ahead in this battle.

As for Arsenal, they have recently lost Emile Smith Rowe, who went to Fulham. The club’s biggest strengths are goalkeepers and defense. Starting with Karl Hein as a goalkeeper. Defenders: Ben White, who turned out to be good and productive; Timber, who has a crucial role to play; Heaven, who has a lot to prove for the crucial game; and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who was decent last season. The formation could be 4-3-3 for Arsenal.

Midfielders: Martin Odegaard, who is good with the ball and dribbles through the tight spaces and provides the ball; Jorginho, a penalty expert who can provide key passes and tactical game; Ethan Nwaneri is one of the crucial players for Arsenal who can assist and play in top form. Attackers: Reiss Nelson is an outstanding winger with the right pace, Jesus is the tactical finisher, and Leandro Trossard turned out to be the best player for Arsenal last season with his brilliance.

Liverpool starts with their second-choice goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher. Defenders: Conor Bradley, because of his crossing abilities and hard tackles, fulfills the duty of Alexander Arnold; Jarell Quansah, as he can dictate the game; Van Der Berg, as his commitment can take him into the official squad; Konstantinos Tsimikas, can tackle hard. Midfielders: Wataru Endo can man-mark any player, and Curtis Jones can provide wonderful assists and feed his team.

Attackers: Mo Salah can do anything with the ball as he is the Premier League legend. His assists, goals, playmaking, and dribbling make him one of the best Liverpool players; Dominik Szoboszlai is a playmaker who is typically a freekick taker; and Fabio Carvalho can irritate defenders and turn into their greatest nightmare. Last but not least, Diogo Jota could make a return as Harvey Elliott is out injured. The formation could be 4-2-3-1 for Liverpool.

Head-to-Head

In the last five meetings between the two clubs, Arsenal has won two matches and drawn two times with Liverpool. On the other hand, The Reds have only won one match against The Gunners. However, there could be a different scenario to be seen, as Salah’s prime against the upcoming opponent has always been hazardous. Slot could use his Dutch mind to give his importance to attack.

In the last season of the Premier League, the London club was one spot ahead of their counterparts due to the sloppy performance of an otherwise quality side. The body language of Slot could tell if they are ready to face the challenges or not. Liverpool’s main concern is how their players use their ball in their feet for a very long time and play solo, which makes it worrying for the club and the fans.
