Arsenal Vs. Bayern has been the talk of the town since the quarter-final draws were announced. Both Arsenal FC and Bayern Munich have had quite an interesting history. Especially when it comes to the UEFA Champions League. The two teams met last time in 2019 in the International Champions Cup where the Gunners won with a final score of 2-1. However, before that the teams faced each other in the Champions League Round of 16 back in 2017. Bayern dominated in both the games and almost humiliated Arsenal with a final aggregate score of 10-2.
Cumulatively, both teams have faced each other head-to-head 12 times to date. Where, the German giants have won 7 games and Arsenal has won 3, with 2 ties between them.
The New Bayern Squad
Bayern has shined in the Champions League for as long as one can remember. The team has six Champions League trophies under its belt. Robert Lewandowski has been the club’s top scorer in the tournament with 69 goals to his name. Followed by Thomas Muller with 54.
The current Bayern squad led by Thomas Tuchel has eased through to the quarter-finals rather easily. Former Tottenham player Harry Kane has been the squad’s star player with 6 goals in 8 games. Some other big names in the team’s squad like the skipper Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, and Alphonso Davies have been in good form in the tournament too.
The New Arsenal Squad
Arsenal FC has gone through several changes over the years. Especially since Arsene Wenger’s legendary spell of 22 years as the head coach came to an end in 2018. Shortly after, the seasoned manager Unai Emery took over as the manager and implemented some changes that were effective in the short run. However, due to his wildly contrasting style compared to the previous boss, things soon fell apart.
Once again, Arsenal went through a tumultuous spell in the squad and at the managerial level. Things finally started changing in the winter of 2019, when former Arsenal player Mikel Arteta was appointed as the head coach of the squad.
While Arteta’s Arsenal has seen some dark days, it has been a different breed since the winter of ’22. The squad has consistently been a dominant force in the league, while also playing beautifully in other competitions.
Both Arsenal and Bayern have had an impressive run in the season thus far. So Arsenal Vs. Bayern will surely be an absolute spectacle this time around and unlike anything before.
