Arsenal’s Injury Woes
Mikel Arteta’s side is present without some key players who have been out due to injury. The first injury started with their new signing Mikel Merino who has been unable to make his debut for the club. Merino was unintentionally fouled by Gabriel during an intense training session, the Spaniard fractured his shoulder, and he was expected to be out for a few months. He is currently under rehabilitation, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping he can return soon. The Midfield maestro was speculated to be back in late October, most especially after the International Break.
The next injury fell on their Captain Martin Odegaard who has been key for the team, this season and also last season. The Norwegian was injured at the international break as Norway clashed against Austria. After scans, it was discovered Odegaard damaged some of his Ankle ligaments. Arteta spoke about it saying: “The scans showed that he’s got some damage, especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle, It’s something quite significant so we’re going to lose him for a while.”
It’s expected that the star will be back by November. Arteta will be hoping he can make it back earlier. Other injured players for the Gunners include Zinchenko, and Tomiyasu, with the dates of their return unknown yet.
What’s Ahead for Arsenal
The Gunners will host Bolton in their Carabao tie on Wednesday, after which they’ll also host Leicester, in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side will be hopeful his side can make a strong impression in the two games. For Arsenal’s team quality, a double win in those games should be non-negotiable.
