Arsenal’s Approach for 22-Year-Old Ajax Forward Intensifies

Arsenal are hoping to get back what they believe to be rightfully theirs by winning the Premier League trophy this year. They sat in first place for numerous weeks during the 2023-204 season, only waiting for City to come back and take the spot on top again since they had a game in hand. Now, Arteta and Arsenal are out for blood and hope to rebuild their squad in the off-season to come back rejuvenated and ready to play.

Arteta has been busy during the summer transfer window, trying to secure new and exciting players who will be able to bring some enthusiasm and energy to an in-form Arsenal side. But, will they be able to get the deal over the line for the young and talented Ajax forward in the Dutch league? Only time will tell.

Ajax is no team to shake your head at — this Dutch side has brought about some of the best players of our generation, including top-tier names like Steven Bergwijn, Andre Onana, de Jong, Vertonghen, and Alderweireld. Now, they are nurturing a young striker and winger who managed to score more than 20 goals for the senior side last season.

Brian Brobbey is a professional Dutch player who was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and currently plays for Ajax in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands. He started playing football at AFC and his son transferred to Ajax, where he would stay from 2010 to 2018. Then, to get senior minutes, he played for Jong Ajax before joining the senior squad in 2020.

To get more game time and develop even more as just a 19-year-old, he decided to go to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga to develop another part of his game. He returned to Ajax on loan, and then permanently in 2022, where he has since made 62 appearances and scored a whopping 31 goals — averaging almost 0.5 goals per game.

Brian Brobbey is one of the most sought-after young players who is currently in the UEFA Euro tournament in Germany at the minute. He has made two appearances for the full senior squad and more than 40 appearances for the underage Netherlands teams throughout the years.

Arteta has noticed his skill, prowess in front of goal, and athleticism, and wants to bring him on board to join Arsenal this upcoming season.

Arsenal are hoping to sign Brobbey from Ajax for a moderate transfer fee of between $30 and $40 million for the talented player, along with potentially signing a deal for Riccardio Calafiori and Benjamin Sesko. Arteta will also hope to keep some key players at Arsenal FC for the 2024-2025 campaign, such as Saka (who is currently with the England team), Declan Rice (also a member of the England squad), Kai Havertz (a German international), Odegaard (a Norwegian midfield engine), and Martinelli.

Arteta needs to continue to build his team around a core group of veterans while still bringing in young players to develop and bring some injection of pace, athleticism, and quickness into the team. Partnering Brobbey with a dynamic player like Saka, and an experienced striker like Trossard or Jesus, could be a smart option for next season.
