Former Arsenal and Everton Striker Passes Away At 54

Arsenal is mourning the loss of one of their ex-players who made a huge difference for the club over the years. One of the most prolific strikers to ever play in the Premier League has passed away at a young age, having made appearances for Arsenal FC, Everton, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, and Cardiff City throughout his illustrious career.

Arsenal FC are currently paying respects to their former striker, Kevin Joseph Campbell. Kevin Campbell, aged just 54, died yesterday at a young age after a long and respectable playing career. 

Campbell began his youth career with Arsenal FC in their academy for three years before progressing to the senior team, making 163 appearances for the Gunners in North London in a fantastic seven-year spell. During his time with the North London outfit, he also made appearances for Leyton Orient and Leicester City on loan. 

After Leaving Arsenal FC, he made 77 appearances for Nottingham Forest over three years, scoring 31 goals during his time here. Once he left Notts Forest in 1998, he made a surprising move to Trabzonspor but went to Everton on loan in 1999. After Enjoying himself so much at the Toffees, he decided to make the move permanent and signed a deal with Everton FC to join the team between 1999 and 2005. 

To round out his long and prolific career, he ended up making 45 appearances for West Bromwich Albion in the 2005-2006 season, and 19 appearances for Cardiff City between 2006 and 2007. Campbell retired in 2007, having amassed 494 appearances and scored 147 goals for various clubs during his playing days. 

Some of his best seasons for Campbell include the 1991-1992 season, where he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances in the First Division for Arsenal. He also had a fantastic 1993-1994 season in the Premier League where he made 37 appearances and netted fourteen times for his team. 

After moving to Notts Forest, they were relegated from the Premier League into the First Division for the 1997-1998 season. During this one year, he had a breakout year, making 39 appearances for the club and scoring 22 times during his tenure here. 

Plus, he had four great seasons with Everton in the Premier League at the start of the century. Over his entire career, he has succeeded in many different teams, showing just how good of a player he was.

Campbell reportedly was ‘very unwell’ in the hospital on June 2, 2024. Less than two weeks later, it was announced that Campbell passed away at just 54 years old. Everton made the initial announcement that Kevin Campbell was doing unwell with their website and social media platforms on June 2, 2024.

‘Everton has been made aware that our former striker Kevin Campbell is currently very unwell. Known as ‘Super Kev’, by the adoring Goodison Park faithful, Kevin had a massive and instant impact when he joined Everton from Trabzonspor in 1999…Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time.’

Everyone at the Gunners and Everton are now mourning the loss of such a good person and player. The entire footballing world is showing respect for the ex-Premier League and First Division striker who made an impact at every single club he went to.
