Arne Slot took over for one of the most respected managers of all time, Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool fans were wondering if he could fill the shoes of the all-time Premier League great, or if he would fall flat and bring the Merseyside club with him. But, after revealing his new plans for the upcoming season, it seems as though the side is in good hands for the new campaign.
Arne Slot Liverpool Plans
Arne Slot isn’t a coach to sit and watch the days go by in preparation for the new year. He has a lot to do, especially since he just joined as the manager to take over for Klopp — who left big shoes to fill. Slot has no time to wait around and see what falls in his lap. Instead, he needs to get new players, retain the ones he has, and figure out pre-season plans for his entire squad.
Fortunately for Liverpool, who suffered from injuries this past season and ended up having to field an entire starting eleven of underage players and academy boys in a cup game, Arne Slot has decided to bring in two more arrivals to the Liverpool camp this summer during the transfer window.
However, don’t get too excited yet — Slot says that these two members are actually backroom staff that will help the players, not bolster the squad itself. The new head coach stated that he is planning on bringing in Fabian Otte (once the Copa America tournament ends) and Seipke Hulshoff. Both of these coaches have worked with Arne Slot in the past at Feyenoord and have a good reputation together.
Plus, Slot hints that they will also bring in two more staff that he won’t mention yet — meaning they could currently be under contract negotiations with the club.
Arne Slot could be doing all of this ahead of time because he knows just how much Klopp did for the club during his time as manager.
It is not about what I tell you now, it is more special what Jurgen did to this club. When he arrived he said he was the ‘Normal One’ but what made him special was the impression he left behind, winning trophies of course but his playing style the fans loved. Maybe he said he was the ‘Normal One’ but the fans see him differently, maybe not as a person but what he did for the club was more than normal, let’s put it that way.
Liverpool Looking Forward
Looking forward to next season, Liverpool will hope to stay in the top three of the Premier League — but ideally, win the trophy and beat Manchester City and Pep Guardiola’s side this year. The Reds looked like they were going to go on a tear and win the league last season, but they imploded towards the end of the year with careless goals against and shocking losses.
Now, they hope to win the trophy by keeping the likes of Mohamed Salah on the team, along with stalwarts like Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. If Arne Slot can bolster his squad with more players and backroom staff, Liverpool has a real shot at the Premier League trophy in the 2024-2025 campaign.
