Arising Archer: Damian Priest’s Star Should Continue to Rise in WWE

Ian Maatsen

If you were watching this week’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW, you probably noticed that one prominent performer was clearly the episode’s star. Current reigning World Champion Damian Priest dominated the broadcast as he gets set for his title defense at Money in the Bank against Seth Rollins. He appeared in several segments involving his intertwining storylines.

The Archer of Infamy has been on a roll in 2024 and has ascended to the top of the card in the company. As he prepares to battle the former champ on July 6, more than the belt will be on the line. If Priest loses, he will be forced to leave Judgment Day.

Despite being part of a heel faction, Damian Priest gets huge reactions from the audience, so his exit is likely inevitable. And his current storyline with Finn Balor seems to be the perfect set-up for that scenario.

Damian Priest Leaving Judgment Day Soon

There’s been plenty of intrigue around Judgment Day in the last several weeks. With Priest and Rhea Ripley growing in popularity, rumors of their departure have been brewing for a while now. Meanwhile, an inner conflict involving the emerging relationship between Liv Morgan and Dominik Myserio has added fuel to the fire.

Damian Priest has other things to deal with right now, as he and Seth Rollins look to have a stellar match-up at Money in the Bank. Many expect a Rollins win because Priest’s stablemates are costing him the title.

However, regardless of the match’s outcome, it’s generally believed that Priest will be on his own, at least by the time SummerSlam rolls around. The tension has grown between him and Balor, and that continued to be hinted at this week. An exit from the group sets up an even bigger singles run – this time as a babyface – than even the one he’s currently on.

Is Priest on His Way to Becoming an All-Time Great?

Although Damian Priest has been signed with WWE since 2018, he spent his first three years with the promotion in NXT, finally getting his call-up in early 2021. While with the third brand, he captured the North American championship and had a memorable feud with Karrion Kross. Still, it was hard to predict what the veteran’s fortunes would be on the main roster.

Thus far, he’s already provided several memorable moments. He’s captured the United States championship and the unified Tag Team titles twice, along with his current title. His battle with musical megastar Bad Bunny at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico nearly blew the roof off the building and helped raise his profile considerably.

His victory at WrestleMania 40 has obviously been his crowning achievement thus far. At 41 years of age, the Puerto Rican superstar still has a lot of time left to write a lasting legacy in the promotion.

He’s Become a Star

As he continues his journey in WWE, Damian Priest has improved his microphone skills and character overall, particularly in the last few months as his persona has evolved. This has helped make him much more than a pro wrestling star—it’s made him a television star.

Maintaining his current popularity level while collecting titles along the way may be why we see Priest on the Hall of Fame stage someday. He’s got the size, the talent, and the charisma to set in stone a legacy that will last forever. Win or lose at Money in the Bank, it appears he’s destined to be remembered as a WWE legend.
