Argentina vs Bolivia: Team News & Head-to-Head

Argentina

Lionel Messi returned for Argentina after the Copa America final, but he struggled to make a significant impact in their recent match against Venezuela. However, Messi is expected to start again after proving his fitness with Inter Miami. Still, there’s strong competition for attacking positions, with Lautaro Martinez waiting in reserve. Emiliano Martinez remains suspended, serving the second of his two-game ban, but Cristian Romero is available again after missing the Venezuela match due to yellow card accumulation.

Bolivia

On the Bolivia side, Miguelito was the star on Thursday, scoring for the third consecutive game despite barely playing for his club, Santos, where he’s had only three minutes of action in their last 12 matches. Bolivia will also be without  Hector Cuellar, who was suspended after receiving a red card against Colombia, while injuries have ruled out Ervin Vaca and Yomar Rocha.

Additionally, first-line goalkeeper Carlos Lampe is still sidelined after being forced off during Bolivia’s win against Chile last month. He hasn’t played since.

Head-to-Head

Argentina has been very comfortable with this fixture. Especially at home, they have won the previous 10 meetings out of the 11 played and drawn one. Fans expect their dominance to continue.

Possible Starting XI

Argentina: Rulli; Molina, Otamendi, Romero, Tagliafico; De Paul, Fernandez, Lo Celso; La Martinez, Alvarez, Messi

Bolivia: Viscarra; Medina, Haquin, Suarez, Sagredo; Robson Matheus, Villamil, R Vaca; Miguelito, Algaranaz, Chura

Prediction

Argentina remains determined to win this match. They are expected to dominate all aspects of the game, such as possession, passes, chances created, and even goals. The Blues might be determined to grab those three important points at home. Bolivia will stick to its plan, play solid defensively, and hold Argentina off as long as possible.
