Argentina resumed their international games after their Copa America victory against Colombia. Their Copa America victory was a continuation of how successful they’ve been over the past two years. La Albiceleste hoped they’d be able to continue their winning streak after the Copa America victory.
Lionel Scaloni’s side played against a tricky Chile side in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. Argentina was without their legendary captain Lionel Messi, however, they had the likes of Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez, and Paulo Dybala in the team in readiness for the qualifiers.
However in the game against Chile, it started a bit rough, but it ended in a great win for them.

Argentina took control of the game very early. Moreover, Chile proved very disciplined and hopeful to hinder the Argentines from salvaging anything. Also, the Chileans troubled the Argentines during the games with some fee counters, leading to important saves from Emiliano Martinez.
Nevertheless, the majority of the chances came from the Copa America defending champions. Chile ended up doing a great job in keeping La Albiceleste away in the first half.
Argentina vs. Chile Second Half
The Second half came with more intensity from Argentina as they focused on quickly subduing the Chileans. It paid off early in the 48th. A sublime team play was created leading to Alexis Mac Allister’s close-range finish. The goal was provided after a beautiful assist by Julian Alvarez who has been effective all through the game.
After the goal Chile tried to fight back however, Argentina maintained compactness to hinder their opponents. After a contentious 35 mins Argentina found the second. This was thanks a Julian Alvarez’s goal. The Atletico Madrid man who was laid off by Lo Celso struck a beautiful shot at the post. The Ball ended up ricocheting off the bar into the net. As of then, the game seemed over for Chile, however, it wasn’t over for Argentina.
La Albiceleste continued to push and this time it was Paulo Dybala. He was beautifully freed by Alejandro Garnacho, allowing Dybala to finish off with a fine strike giving Argentina the 3rd.
Man of Match Performance
The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Lautaro Martinez, Nicolas Otamendi, and Emiliano Martinez had a great game. However, Julian Alvarez was arguably the best player on the pitch. The Atletico Madrid man was everywhere in front. He had made great efforts to disturb the Chilean defense. In the end, he was able to mark it off with a beautiful goal and assist.
Despite his goal drought at Atletico Madrid, it didn’t stop the 24-year-old from proving his value to Lionel Scaloni and the team. He’ll hope to maintain the form in Argentina’s next game against a difficult Colombian side, and also back in La Liga.
