Somerset’s director of cricket, Andy Hurry, said:
Archie is a young guy with a great career ahead of him. Since entering the program, he has shown a genuine and strong willingness to work extremely hard and develop all aspects of his game. This hard work alongside his impressive on-field performances has led to second XI opportunities, in which he has flourished.
Michael Vaughan captained England from 2003 to 2008, leading them to a historic Ashes victory in 2005. He played 82 Tests and 86 One-Day Internationals.
As Archie joins the increasing list of former England players’ children, he’s excited about playing domestic cricket. As you know Andrew Flintoff’s children, Rocky and Corey, are members of the Lancashire squad.
However, Rocky made headlines last month with a century for Lancashire 2nd XI against Warwickshire. Rocky was at the top headlines a few weeks ago when he blasted a scorching century for Lancashire’s second XI. No doubt, his game bears a striking similarity to his father, Andrew.
On the other hand, Josh de Caires, the son of former England captain Michael Atherton, is a first-team Middlesex cricketer. He attended an England Lions training camp last winter. Haydon Mustard, Phil Mustard’s son, made his first-class debut for Durham this season and played for England in the recent U19 World Cup.
