Ange Postecoglou has stated that Tottenham’s new £86.8 million ($109.27 million) deficit will have no impact on the club’s summer transfer intentions. He says they are still in a better position to spend than most of their Premier League competitors. Spurs released their latest financial statistics for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, which showed a huge deficit despite turnover exceeding £500 million for the first time.
Ange Postecoglou Expects Tottenham’s Recent Loss Not To Affect Transfer Plans
Ange Postecoglou is confident that Tottenham’s transfer plans would remain unaffected by their recent loss. According to ESPN, Tottenham still has sufficient headroom to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Unlike Everton and Nottingham Forest, who both had points deducted this season due to financial breaches, Spurs are in fine financial standing. When asked about the recent loss Tottenham incurred, Ange Postecoglou said:
My discussions around those kinds of issues are not the minutiae of a balance sheet.” It is about us planning to build a side that can potentially be successful. So, that’s what we’re doing and nothing that is going to come out in the balance sheet is going to disrupt those plans because those plans are done in alliance with the people who make the balance sheets.
It is not like ‘oh we are going to wait for the financial results before we start thinking about who we’re going to sign.’ All this stuff is already in planning. We kind of know what position we’re in and what we need to do in the summer.
That doesn’t mean it’s all going to come to fruition of course because there are all sorts of other factors that come into it. But our planning is well underway in what we need to do. “There’s no doubt that from our perspective, we are not one of the clubs who are going to be as restricted as others.
With a cool and calm mind, Ange Postecoglou answered this question. This hopefully calms the minds of Tottenham fans, as they hope Postecoglou wins a trophy for the club.
Would Tottenham Sign Players in the Next Transfer Window?
Ange Postecoglou has expressed his desire to make signings as the summer months creep up. The former Celtic boss has made it clear that his goal is to take Tottenham Hotspur to the very top and not just qualify for the Champions League. He has made it clear that Tottenham has transfer plans ready in place as there is a need to bolster the squad.
The Spurs boss enjoyed a strong start in the Premier League, winning three consecutive Barclays Manager of the Month awards. A bad game against Chelsea and injuries to key players, unfortunately, disrupted Ange Postecoglou’s perfect start to life at Tottenham.
