Amy Crosbie Latest to be Dismissed in USU Athletic Layoffs

Yesterday afternoon, USU announced it was letting go of another person from its athletic program. Amy Crosbie, the Athletics Director for Internal Affairs / Senior Woman Administrator at Utah State University, informed her of her termination. She has joined Jerry Bovee, Blake Anderson, and Austin Albrecht, who have also been handed the pink slip.

Amy Crosbie Is The Fourth USU Let Go From Their Athletic Staff

Amy is the first of the four who wasn’t part of the football program and had been with the university for five years. The first three men of USU football were let go, “thorough external review of alleged noncompliance with university policies that implement Title IX, which require full and timely reporting of disclosures of sexual misconduct — including domestic violence — and prohibit employees from investigating disclosures of sexual misconduct themselves.”

When learning of this situation Jerry posted, “Just learned that one of the best people I’ve ever worked with was dismissed late today from her role as SWA with Utah State Athletics. The student-athlete experience for just over 400 young people just slipped a notch backward. Amy Crosbie will be missed!”

Amy Crosbie worked with compliance, academics, strength, and conditioning. She also oversaw the Title IX oversight for sports supervision, gymnastics, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field/cross country, and volleyball. In her job purview, she oversaw promoting college sports leadership and management in the women’s department.

She had come a long way working for the university, where she was an administrator for seven years. Bovee and Amy both worked at Weber State for almost 10 years with the Wildcats before they came to USU.

It is going to be difficult to think of Aggie Athletics without these four people. Amy had done a great deal for USU and was even part of their Athletic Hall of Fame committee.

When USU was asked if her termination was linked to the other three, they declined to comment. We will have to wait and watch to see why USU is changing its athletic department so much at this crucial time.

These significant changes to USU’s athletic program may not be stopping, as the university has not confirmed the entire reason for them. Crosbie’s webpage has already been removed after her dismissal.

These pivotal changes leave gaps as these former Aggies are asked to leave. In her job, she said, “I couldn’t be happier being at my alma mater,” Crosbie said. “Not many people get to do that, and I’m grateful for it every day.”

Amy has the heart of an athlete. She has played volleyball since she was seven and continued to do so all the way to USU.

No matter the reason, the consequences will bring change. In fourteen days, we should know more about when all this started. What is the cause of these layoffs? Are they connected? Is USU cleaning house or is there something coming or that has happened already? Who will fill these vacancies and will it be soon enough?
