Amir Scandal | Internet Dig Up Harbhajan Singh’s Explosive Post Calling Him a ‘Fixer’

Internet Digs Up India Star Harbhajan Singh's Post Calling Mohammad Amir a "Fixer"

Harbhajan Singh, a Star Sports broadcaster, was heard praising Mohammad Amir during an interview after Pakistan’s seven-wicket win against Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024. But it did not go well with the former Indian spinner, as fans find out about a previous tweet in which he referred to the Pakistan bowler as a “fixer”.

Harbhajan Praises Amir Despite Previous Criticism

“You have been a successful bowler for Pakistan. “There is a belief that whenever you have the ball in your hand, you will help the team with three to four wickets,” Harbhajan remarked of Amir following Pakistan’s victory against Canada.

Netizens then started recalling Harbhajan’s tweet from 2021. “Fixer ko sixer… out of the park @iamamirofficial chal daffa ho ja,” Harbhajan said in a tweet attaching a video of him hitting Mohammad for a match-winning six against Pakistan in the 2010 Asia Cup.

Crowd’s Taunts of “Fixer” Makes Amir Angry

Pakistan‘s great bowler Mohammad Amir appears to be still dealing with the fallout from his role in the 2010 spot-fixing affair in England. Well, it’s a disrespect to Pakistan’s star pacer. Even he had faced a five-year ban after being accused of being a fixer.

Following a match at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Mohammad was once again harassed by spectators, who referred to him as a “fixer” in a viral social media video as he approached the boundary line.

Amir, who earned a five-year suspension from the ICC for his part in the controversy at the age of 18, responded promptly to the chanting. He was clearly agitated and apparently made an obscene middle-finger motion.

Pakistan lost their inaugural T20 World Cup encounter to co-hosts the United States, which ended in a Super Over. Mohammad who bowled the Super Over, let up 18 runs in an eight-ball over to the USA.

In response, the USA limited Pakistan to 13/1 and won the dramatic Super Over. In Pakistan’s second match against India, Mohammad bowled an impressive four-over performance, surrendering 23 runs and capturing two wickets to help bowl out Rohit Sharma’s squad for 119.

Amir, who had declared his retirement from international cricket in 2020. He now reversed his mind in March 2024 before being picked to the current T20 World Cup squad. Amir’s career has been fraught with controversy, notably his role in the 2010 spot-fixing incident in England.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued Mohammad a five-year suspension. After serving his sentence, the left-arm bowler returned to the team in 2016, helping them win the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.

Amir has performed well for Pakistan in the coming T20 World Cup. No doubt, he grabbed five massive wickets in the first three matches. He returned with statistics of 1 for 25 against the United States before going 2 for 23 against India and 2 for 13 against Canada.

Pakistan kept their Super Eight chances alive with a seven-wicket victory over Canada in their third encounter. Amir scored outstanding figures of 2 for 13 in 4 overs. He was awarded Man of the Encounter.

Pakistan‘s next match is against Ireland on June 16 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. However, their hopes to qualify for Super Eight can be ended if the USA win their match against Ireland.
