Alexis Mac Allister Believes Liverpool Needs more Improvement

Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister who was pleased with Liverpool’s display on Sunday and so far this season has said that there’s a need for more improvement. The Argentine appeared in the Reds ‘ nil win over both Brentford and Ipswich. He played in the 8 role along with Ryan Gravenberch. The two both formed a double pivot at the center of the Reds’ midfield.

In the two games, the Reds displayed a strong level of compactness, limiting their opponent’s chance creation. This in return allowed them to keep clean sheets in the two games. Despite the good progression of the new system implemented by Arne Slot, Alexis Mac Allister believes the team can still get better. And as they prepare for their next game, they’ll focus on becoming more and more formidable every minute.

The Argentine, who was very happy after the Brentford game, spoke about how important it was for the team to focus on improvement. Mac Allister has been an integral part of Arne Slot’s midfield structure. He has been paired alongside Gravenberch in the double-pivot role. And so far their pairing has seemed to be very effective.

Liverpool had scored two goals both against Brentford and Ipswich with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota being on the scoresheet of the games respectively. Mohammed Salah on the other end scored in both games. Mac Allister spoke saying “I think we played a fantastic game. The team gave everything – you could see that from the first minute today. Today we played a very good game in possession and without the ball as well. [I’m] pleased.”

“We know that there is still room for improvement. I think we are in a transition because sometimes we should be patient but instead, we are quite direct, let’s say. But we are in that transition [and] I think everyone is happy and working very hard to get into Arne’s idea.”

Mac Allister ahead of the Trip to Old Trafford

Alexis Mac Allister also spoke concerning their difficult trip to Old Trafford next week. Believing their win against Brentford will be a strong motivation for the next game. Mac Allister said: “Really important. We know that against Man United it’s a derby, it’s a really important game for the club and us.

“We will prepare during the week and we will do our best to win that game.”

Liverpool Season ahead

The Reds will travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to face their rivals Manchester United. The fixture is expected to be a very difficult one for Arne Slot’s side. In their last season’s League encounter at Old Trafford, Liverpool managed to secure a point against the Red Devils in the late minutes. This was thanks to a Penalty from Salah.

The game alongside many others was part of the games that crippled the Reds’ contention for the League title. Moreover this season, Arne Slot will hope his side can take a more different approach to get their desired three points against their rivals.
