Al-Nassr Superstar Gets a 4-Figure Fine

Abha Club v Al-Nassr - Saudi Pro League ronaldo

Ronaldo and Al-Nassr have had their fair share of ups and downs in the last couple of months. Not only have they bagged superstar signings, but they have social media issues, player dissent, and cultural differences between the squad that have led to consistent drama in the press. The latest to add to this news include game-time disciplinary actions for their world-renowned striker.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Is His Time at Al-Nassr Coming to an End?

Ronaldo is easily one of the most famous footballers in the world. People have always argued over how is the real ‘GOAT’ of the game, Messi or Ronaldo. But, in recent years, as Messi went to the American League and Ronaldo went to Saudi Arabia, we have seen things decline for one of the two main stars.

Messi has made incredible money, flourished in the U.S. League, and stays out of the press. On the other hand, Ronaldo seems to have always been a magnet for negative press and constant critiques.

And the bad news keeps on coming. Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr captain, showed his anger in the most recent match against Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup. Tensions were high for both teams due to fouls and referee calls. Therefore, Cristiano lost his cool and threw a dangerous elbow to Ali Al-Bulaihi in the second half of the game.

The blatant elbow, which could injure a player, led to an immediate red card without any warning. As any soccer player would, Ronaldo argued against the call and claimed it was too harsh and unfair.

But, his argument, or how he conducted himself, didn’t sit well with the football federation in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabian Football Association upheld the red card decision – and tacked on an additional fine to the superstar.

Ronaldo has to pay $5,300 to the federation to apologize for the incident. Even with this tough ban and fine, he is enjoying his time off, posting pictures on Instagram of a holiday with his partner.

Ronaldo and Al-Nassr Issues This Season

This isn’t Ronaldo’s any issue with the Saudi team so far this season. Al-Nassr missed out on three major competitions, including the AFC Champions League. Plus, they didn’t finish as high on the table as they would have considered in pre-season, finishing in second place to Al Hilal.

The only chance that Ronaldo has to win any silverware this season is with the King’s Cup. His side faces off against Al-Khaleej during the semi-final of the domestic competition on May 2nd.

Despite Ronaldo’s temper, he has been the key player for his side this season. He has provided assists, scored goals, and driven the team’s energy. Let’s hope he keeps his temper in check and helps his team to victory.
