Adley Rutschman Single-Handedly Powers Team To Victory On June 9

Adley Rutschman had a great game on Sunday afternoon.

Baltimore Orioles Catcher Adley Rutschman had a Sunday to remember at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays. He went 3-of-5 with a whopping six RBI as the Baltimore Orioles coasted to a 9-2 victory. Rutschman set a new career-high with six RBI this afternoon. The Orioles took the first three games of a four-game set against their divisional foes.

Adley Rutschman is hitting .306 this season with 13 home runs and 49 RBI. He is 14th in the league in batting average. He got the scoring started for the Baltimore Orioles today with an RBI single in the top of the third. He added another RBI single in the top of the seventh frame. Adley Rutschman  also hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth inning to cap off what was a truly memorable day in the “Sunshine State.”

Adley Rutschman Is Part Of Great Orioles Offense

Baltimore(42-22) is second in the American League East and has been powered by a great offense this season. Rutschman is part of an Orioles offense that is eighth in batting average, leading the league home runs, and second in runs scored. That offense came to play today at Tropicana Field. The Orioles amassed 13 hits and had six players in their lineup with at least one hit. Baltimore’s offense feasted on the bullpen of the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa’s bullpen surrendered six runs over only three innings of work.

Baltimore’s offense scored seven of their nine runs in innings 6-8. Rays Starting Pitcher Zack Littell held up well against arguably the best offense in all of Major League Baseball. He tossed six innings and surrendered three earned runs while punching out three. He took the loss today and is now 2-4 this season with an ERA of 3.63.

Baltimore Orioles Strong Pitching A Key To Victory

Starting Pitcher Grayson Rodriguez pitched well after a great day for his offense. He tossed 5.2 innings and surrendered two earned runs while striking out six. He is 7-2 this season with an ERA of 3.27. He tossed a season-high 107 pitches in the win. The bullpen of the Orioles tossed 3.1 scoreless innings and the pitching staff as a whole struck out 13 Tampa hitters.

The Orioles pitching staff is not the best at striking out the opposition as they are 15th in the league in punchouts. Their pitching staff is third though in ERA and opposing batting average. The offense of the Tampa Bay Rays only mustered six hits and was 2-of-5 with RISP. Tampa scored both of their runs today in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back RBI singles by Second Baseman Brandon Lowe and Left Fielder Randy Arozarena.

Orioles Upcoming Schedule

Adley Rutschman and the Baltimore Orioles go for the series sweep tomorrow night in Florida. They then head home for a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves beginning on Tuesday.

Adley Rutschman will look to build on this performance and help lead an Orioles team that has its sights set on a deep run in the 2024 MLB Playoffs.
