AC Milan is one of the top teams in Serie A, the Italian elite league that contains some of the best players in the world. Unlike other leagues, they oftentimes are used as a feeder system that propels youngsters into more competitive countries, like Spain, Germany, or England.
However, they just recalled an experienced La Liga midfielder who will undoubtedly bolster their ranks moving forward into next season. After losing the Scudetto to arch-rivals Inter Milan last season by a big margin of 19 points, the changes are necessary. Therefore, the Italian giants are looking busy in the transfer market from the start.
AC Milan Redeem Real Madrid Midfielder
AC Milan will have a new engine in the midfield this upcoming 2024-2025 season as they have just called Alex Jimenez from Real Madrid, the team that won the coveted Champions League trophy against Borussia Dortmund this past summer in the tournament. The full-back spent his last season on loan with AC Milan and has decided that he wants to make the move more permanent to the Italian side from the Spanish outfit.
Jimenez played for AC Milan on loan this past season, and well surpassed the club’s expectations for a youngster coming over from a top-tier Spanish team. He made appearances for the academy/second team and even came on for the senior squad during his first year with the club. He looked confident, controlled, and composed while on the pitch.
AC Milan has made it clear that he wants the teenager to stay with their side for a long time, and they have offered a lucrative contract to the 19-year-old for him to stay with them for another few years. The teenagers accepted the detail, meaning he will be with Milan for at least four more seasons with the option to extend.
Real Madrid may have a buy-back clause, but that isn’t set in stone yet. Even if they do, this was a great get for AC Milan as they have secured one of the most mature young footballers in the world at the moment.
AC Milan Looking Forward
AC Milan ended up in the Serie A league this past season in second place, coming only behind Inter. However, they were more than 20 points off of the top spot, meaning they need to have some serious rebuilding this off-season if they hope to beat their last-season record of just 22 wins in all competitions.
AC Milan will hope to keep Theo Hernandez in the back line, Giroud as one of the best goal-scorers of all time, Pulisic as a creative midfielder and winger, and Jovic as a dangerous forward who can score goals.
If they can add Jimenez to their roster, he will be a great addition for an impact substitution and build up his minutes to eventually become a starter as he gets older. Jimenez began his youth career with Talavera CF, UD Talavera, Real Madrid, and then moved to AC Milan in 2023.
His senior career involves appearances with Real Madrid B and AC Milan, where he currently resides. He has also made appearances for the underage Spanish teams, having been capped for the U19 Spanish side twice in his career.
