AC Milan Faces a Dramatic Twist in the Hunt for a New Manager for the 2024-25 Season

AC Milan are still in the hunt for a new manager before their 2024-2025 Serie A season begins. Although the Italian club ended up in second place last year in the league, finishing just behind Inter Milan and besting out rivals like Juventus and Roma, they are still in the market to secure a new gaffer who can lead them to victory.

Although just a couple of days ago, it seemed for sure that AC Milan would hire Fonesca, new developments in the situation have included a different manager who could take over for the club.

Even just a few days ago, it seemed for certain that AC Milan was going to announce they had signed a new coach for their team, the young and energetic Paulo Fonesca. The talented man in charge was a highly successful and winning manager at Lille in the French domestic league for more than two years, bringing the little-known club to their highest position in a very long time.

Because of his success at his previous team and his desire to move on, AC Milan naturally chose Fonesca as the successor to the head coaching position. However, Fonesca might not be the ideal candidate everyone thinks he is.

While fans were waiting for the official announcement to come through, and to see Fonesca on a private plane to San Siro in no time, that doesn’t mean that it is a done deal. He is well known for his dynamic tactical style that allows for creative and fluid movement in his teams, something that is a joy to watch and made Lille successful in Ligue 1.

But, there are new developments in this story that don’t just involve Fonesca and his adaptability to new teams – it also includes a new potential option for AC Milan’s coaching gap.

AC Milan have also set their sights on Massimiliano Allegri, the ex-Juventus coach who has expressed interest in joining the club. Juventus, who also plays in Serie A, was just busted by AC Milan last year and was close on their heels to catching them at the end of the season. If Allegri jumped ship and switched to AC Milan for 2024-2025, that would be a huge drama in the Serie A league.

The older coach decided to leave his previous post with much controversy, indicating some personal issues or behind-the-scenes problems going on at the club. Juventus not only parted ways with the manager but did so less than two days after the season had come to a close.

Despite the immediate sacking from Juventus post-finale, Allegri kept it professional and alleged the departure was mutual from both parties.

Now, AC Milan has a tough decision to make with choosing between Fonesca and Allegri for the new managerial role. Does the young man in charge from Lille have the energy and drive to tactically change AC Milan into a more dynamic team, or will AC Milan go with the veteran coach who wants to seek revenge on his old club?

Only time will tell – as of now, AC Milan has a tough choice to make.
