Matthew Tkachuk/Jayson Tatum Throw Out 1st Pitch at St. Louis Cardinals Game Sunday

Matthew Tkachuk

Matthew Tkachuk and Jayson Tatum were longtime friends from 6th to 12th grade. Both superstars attended Chaminade College Prep School, a Catholic school in St. Louis. They are both natives of the St. Louis area. Tkachuk left in ninth grade for the United National Development Program, while Tatum graduated in 2016, and the school retired his jersey number 22.

During their visit to St. Louis, Tkachuk and Tatum recreated the iconic photo of themselves during their time at Chaminade. Throughout their playoff runs, both friends supported each other. Their goal was to bring championships back to St. Louis.

Matthew Tkachuk is a St. Louis native who this year won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers. Tkachuk did not have the Cup this time while visiting St. Louis instead he had his iconic Championship belt. The Stanley Cup has traveled to nearly three different countries while each player gets to spend one day with it.

Tkachuk, had his day with the Stanley Cup earlier in the Summer (July 17-18) when he took it back home to St. Louis to celebrate with friends, family and the St. Louis Community.  He stopped at a fire department and police department in Brentwood, Missouri. He also visited his elementary school and a children’s hospital.

Jayson Tatum won the NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics this year. Tatum is good friends with Tkachuk. From the time they met in school and even now as professional sports athletes, they are still friends and support each other.

Before Sunday’s baseball game, where the St. Louis Cardinals played the LA Dodgers, Matthew Tkachuk and Jayson Tatum had the honor of throwing out the first pitch of the game. Both players enjoyed the moment and recreated their iconic photo.

Final Thoughts

Matthew Tkachuk has a fun filled summer with the Stanley Cup after winning it with the Florida Panthers. This is the Panthers first ever Stanley Cup Championship in franchise history. Fans in both states Florida and St. Louis have loved seeing Tkachuk and the Cup.
