Josh Huepel and his staff at the University of Tennessee stayed hot on the recruiting trail on Sunday. Class of 2025 Four Star linebacker Jaedon Harmon announced he was flipping his commitment from Alabama to the Vols. Harmon has long been rumored to be a flip candidate for Tennessee, and he finally pulled the trigger.
Harmon is from Rome, Georgia, just north of Atlanta. The 6’1”, 215 lb linebacker helped lead Rome High School to an 11-2 record in 2023, making 80 total tackles with five sacks

Harmon is ranked as the 155th overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the nation’s 18th best linebacker in the class of 2025. He had been committed to the Crimson Tide since April 14, but decided to ultimately flip his commitment to the Vols.
“Even when I had no offers, I went down there, and they had treated me the same as they treat me now. It was equal, and that is a big part to me,” Harmon said about Tennessee. “I see myself being able to fit into that scheme great. Just because of the way they use their inside backers, then the ways they use their WILL backers and send them off the edge and use them to cover. It is all stuff that I am really good at.”
Replenishing talent and building depth in the second level has been a key focus for Tennessee in this recruiting cycle. With Keenan Pili entering his final season for the Vols, Harmon and fellow linebacker commit Christian Gass now give UT a pair of important pieces for the future.
Building up on the defensive side of the ball has been crucial for Heupel and defensive coordinator Tim Banks over the last couple of seasons. In the SEC where Georgia and Alabama have dominated for years, defensive recruiting and development has become paramount.
We all know Josh Heupel can build and develop his offense, but his defense has had its holes in previous years. However, Tennessee has done a great job of building and developing depth along its defensive line. Now, with the 2024 and 2025 classes, they have started building in the second level and backend.

With the commitment of Jaedon Harmon on Sunday, Tennessee stayed at number six in the class of 2025 team recruiting rankings on 247Sports Composite. However, they have crept closer to Auburn for the number five spot. Recruits have been gassing up the Vols for a while now, as they check off a lot of boxes.
With 23 overall commitments, Tennessee still has a few targets left on the board. Most notable is probably four star cornerback Onis Konanbanny out of Columbia, South Carolina, who is announcing his commitment on August 23.
