Washington Commanders Stumble: Miami Dolphins Secure 13-6 Victory

Washington Commanders jerseys have been released.
The Washington Commanders’ loss Saturday night showed more adjustments are needed in their 6-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins Saturday night, beginning with their Kicker.  Even though it’s another Commanders’ loss in the preseason, they should be able to make the proper adjustments to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 Season.

Patterson Might Be A Problem

The Commanders’ defense allowed some deep catches to get past them in the Secondary. On the Offensive side Kicker Riley Patterson missed two field goals. Add these two misses to last week’s 39-yard miss against the Jets and that equals a problem. Those three points last week, and the six points this week would have made a big difference. Tonight’s loss shows those missed field goals should be the topic of conversation next week. To make this more awkward, next week he’ll be looking across the field at former Commanders’ Kicker Joey Slye. The now Patriots Kicker spent three seasons with the Commanders.

Washington Commanders QBs look good so far

On a brighter note, Washington Commanders fans got a closer look at QB Jayden Daniels who played in two drives of the game.  Daniels finished his short night 10/12 for 91 yards.  No touchdowns this week, but just as impressive.  The highlight of the night was Jeff Driskoll, currently the QB3 on the Washington Commanders’ Depth Chart. Driskel took advantage of the playing time he had with a great 41-yard run in the Second Half. He finished his night 7/15 for 87 yards.
Marcus Mariota, Washington’s QB2, was ruled out of Saturday’s game due to a groin injury.  Sam Hartman (shoulder) was also ruled out. Newcomer Trace McSorley, who signed  Thursday, McSorley made it a nailbiter, driving down the field with only seconds left on the clock only to come up short in the last 10 seconds due to a Mitchell Tinsely drop in the endzone. McSorley finished Saturday night’s game 11/21 for 93 yards.

Commanders Will Face a Stress Test Against Patriots

The Commanders face the New England Patriots (1-0) in their final preseason game. With both teams going into this probably in dress rehearsal fashion for Week 1, the Commanders will have to prove to the home crowd they are ready for the 2024 NFL Season sans Ron Rivera. Luckily for the Commanders, the preseason games exposed some problematic areas they can address now. Everyone loves to see their team win, but it’s even better when they can make the proper adjustments and be ready for when it counts. Another benefit is they, like the Commanders, are also rebuilding. The Patriots’ 17-3 win against the Carolina Panthers was slow and not aggressive, leaving much to be desired. If the Commanders want to show fans what the season is going to be like, a convincing win against the Patriots next week would do just that.
