Many thought that Jim Harbaugh’s leaving the Michigan Wolverines would affect recruiting. Whenever a head coach leaves, the program often sees a mass exodus of recruits. The head coach is one of the big reasons players come to a program. However, new head coach Sherrone Moore hasn’t missed a beat and is still bringing in top-tier recruits. Michigan landed another top recruit on Friday, four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders.
Michigan Wolverines Land Jayden Sanders
According to On3, Jayden Sanders is a top-300 recruit in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback chose the Michigan Wolverines over Baylor and Oklahoma State. Sanders talked about his decision and revealed it went beyond the football field.
“The thing that made them right for me is the development of players in my position, the program’s history and the school itself.”
“The players show that everyone has bought into the vision of competing for a top spot. Michigan has the top three business school in the country and with the pros not being a guarantee, a degree from the Ross School of Business is priceless.”
The talented cornerback is thinking about his future, not just where he can play football. While some players from big-name programs make it to the NFL, many do not. This was likely a huge recruiting pitch from Moore and his team. This is yet another high-level player who will be playing in the Big House on Saturdays.
2025 Rankings
According to On3’s team rankings, the Michigan Wolverines currently have the 14th-ranked class in the nation. It puts them just ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners and just behind the Texas Longhorns. While things will change over the next year, the maize and blue are already putting together an elite class. They need it because the rest of the Big Ten is also doing well.
Four other Big Ten teams are in the top 20 of the recruiting rankings. Ohio State and Oregon are fielding top-five classes right now. Penn State and Rutgers are also lurking right behind the Wolverines. The conference is going to be elite for years to come. Top classes are going to be needed. Otherwise, they could be left in the dust.
