Tyreek Hill Voted Best On NFL Top 100 List

NFL fans vote Tyreek Hill top player in the league.

NFL fans have become familiar with the yearly release of the Top 100 rankings. This list began in 2011, when active players league-wide were polled to order their peers based on their previous season’s performance. Since the first released list, fans have habitually expressed their grievances about how the entire affair plays out. With the release of this year’s top players, those complaints have remained consistent. From QB rankings to the number one spot, NFL supporters are making their opinions heard regarding the yearly anticipated fan focus.

The NFL has been an offense-heavy league for the better part of a decade, skewed by the abundance of talent between the QB and WR positions. Leaving no surprise, the number one player in the NFL, as voted on by his peers, was a formidable offensive threat. However, the Top 100 list notably featured a wide receiver as the number-one man on the list for the first time in history.

The announcement of Tyreek Hill heading the league as the top player was met with many mixed opinions. Many people agreed that the speedster fit in that top spot after his league-leading 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, through 16 games. Despite his dominant season, some spectators disagree with his placement. Fans have even questioned if Hill is even the best wide receiver in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins took the player poll seriously, offering him a historic amount of money for the position.

More on ‘The Cheetah’

Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins reached an agreement on a restructured contract worth $90 million over the next three years that includes $65 million guaranteed per Adam Schefter. This brings the four-year total of fully guaranteed money to $106.5 million, the most ever for any receiver. No new years were added to the deal. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Jason Rosenhaus. Despite a multitude of fans calling different wide receivers’ names the top in the WR position, no name was mentioned more than Hill’s former QB, Patrick Mahomes. The champions’ position on the list drew attention to the QB rankings as a whole.

Superbowl MVP Patrick Mahomes Falls To #2

Mahomes is on pace to be the player with the most accolades in sports history. The 28-year-old two-time Superbowl and regular season MVP can only be compared to Tom Brady at this point in his NFL career. Despite coming off the second of those two Superbowl MVPs just last season, Mahomes was dropped from his number one spot in 2023 down to number four in 2024. Besides Hill and 2023-24 rushing leader Christian McCaffery, Mahomes’ rank among QBs also shifted.

His spot fell two behind the 2023 MVP, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. No answer to that QB conversation is correct, given their different skills. However, many fans consider this a non-debate. Best summed up in a one-sided poll, posted to the site formerly known as Twitter, which found Patrick Mahomes to be the top player in the NFL. Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs defeated Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens in the 2023-24 AFC Championship en route to their Superbowl victory. Given this recent history of playoffs and NFL Top 100 rankings, their September 5 matchup will be must-see football.
