The Chicago Bears are trying to climb their way to the top of the NFC North division in 2024. After the departure of Justin Fields at quarterback, the Bears drafted rookie signal caller, Caleb Williams. However, he is not the only player that is in the spotlight for Chicago. Big names have been surrounding the Bears offense.
On Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported on X that the Chicago Bears’ top wide receiver DJ Moore has signed a new contract extension. Moore would have seen the end of his contract with the organization after the 2026 season, but fans will be seeing the six-year wideout back in Chicago for four more seasons. How will this contract work out for both sides?

The Chicago Bears organization and DJ Moore have agreed to a massive four-year contract extension worth up to $110 million. $82.6 million is guaranteed that will keep the wide receiver in Chicago through the 2029 NFL season. This is the largest contract extension given to a player in Bears franchise history. Moore was the top target under Justin Fields last season in 2023.
In his first season with the Chicago Bears, the sixth-year wideout put up career numbers. He caught 96 passes for 1,364 yards (fourth-most in team history) and eight touchdowns. His speed and catching ability have proven to his coaches that he is a big-time playmaker and the ultimate reason why he is their top wide receiver.
Chicago Bears Offense In 2024
The 2024 campaign gives the Bears an opportunity to spread the ball around on offense as they brought in more weapons through the 2024 NFL Draft. Coming into a new campaign, the Bears have hired a new offensive coordinator in Shane Waldron. Now with Caleb Williams set to become the starting quarterback, the Chicago Bears offense will have a different look and feel to it.
They drafted rookie wide receiver Romeo Odunze out of Washington to help pick up the load on offense. With two speedy wide receivers on opposite sides of the signal caller, their scoring efficiency could see a big increase in 2024. Other players such as Cole Kmet at the tight end position will provide valuable experience to their receiving corps as he is entering his second year with the team.
Bears Playoff Chances
With a new look on offense and positional talent, the Bears are hoping to finally reach the playoffs in the postseason. Seventeen games of the regular season are hard to manage as young players enter the league. It will take some adjusting as Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze try to get their chemistry together on the field.
Of course, a chance for the playoffs consists of winning 10 or more games during the regular season. Last year, Chicago held a 7-10 record, which put them in last place in the NFC North. It will not an be easy schedule for them as the Lions, Packers, and Vikings are all competing for that top spot. But, the NFC North has always been a tough division to play in.
NFL fans will get an opportunity to watch the Hall Of Fame game on Thursday night of this week. The Chicago Bears will face the Houston Texans in Canton, Ohio. Unfortunately, they will not get to witness their star rookie quarterback as he will not be playing according to Head Coach Matt Eberflus earlier in the week. The game will be televised at 8:00 pm ET on ABC/ESPN.
