John Cena promises to attend London’s WrestleMania

John Cena

While John Cena is not on the card and, in general, he is not expected to wrestle at the WWE WrestleMania event. Although he has promised to attend if that event occurs in London. This commitment comes at a time when company bigwigs and London authorities have reportedly been in talks of possibly having the city host the big wrestling spectacular.

This week WWE’s Nick Khan and Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, met with London Mayor Sadiq Khan to discuss the potential of having the card in the United Kingdom for the first time. Mayor Khan had noted in his re-election campaign that he wanted the U.K. to host this wrestling flagship event; this is indicative of interest in the U.K. hosting major world sports events.

After the good news was announced, John Cena showed his excitement by taking to social media. However, as this will be quite some time in the future, when he will not be able to wrestle in the ring anymore, John Cena endorsed the idea of having the promotion in London. The well-established figure supported the city of London and backed it up with a chance of hosting WWE. He tweeted:

The city of London, and all of the UK has supported WWE thru thick and thin. I try to minimize using the word “deserve” so I will use more appropriate terms. I’ve said it before and stand by it. In my mind London has EARNED a chance to host WrestleMania. I won’t get to compete when it happens but I will BE THERE as a fan for sure!

The athlete officially declared that his last wrestling fight would be in 2025. His retirement tour is expected to go on for the entire year, with his final WrestleMania planned for next April in Las Vegas. This is why the athlete agreed to attend WrestleMania in London even after his retirement, meaning that he has a strong bond with the WWE Universe and acknowledges the huge support from UK fans.

Past support for London

Support for the future is only made possible by understanding the past, and in the case of the city of London, here are some facts that John Cena used in the past to support it. Sporting activities are one of the most significant aspects of life that people all over the world treasure since they play a vital role in everybody’s life. Sporting activities are among the most crucial activities that people across the globe value.

It has not been the first time that the movie star has supported WrestleMania being held in London. In the case of Money in the Bank, which took place in England last year, John Cena made a surprise appearance and went on to appeal for London to be considered as one of the prospective venues for the WrestleMania event to be held in the upcoming years.

Sign of greater things to come

His advocacy and the passion that he has shown clearly prove there is huge interest. Additionally, the General Manager (GM) has clearly stated that WWE is looking at setting up one of its biggest shows in the UK. For London to be granted WrestleMania, probably a site fee would have to be paid by the WWE to the government of the city. The possible shift indicates seeking ways to take some of its premium programs to other territories around the world. Apart from this experience, another plan by the promotion is to have WrestleMania in Indianapolis with the cooperation of Indiana Sports Corp. It is also part of the expansion plan of the scene to have more ring events all over the world, allowing fans to have close contact with the premier events.
