Barcelona Star Might Miss 24/25 Season Start Due to Knee Injury

One of the youngest stars in the footballing world could miss the start of the La Liga season in Spain due to a potential long-term injury that means he is not only out of the current Euro competition in Germany but could miss the beginning of Barca’s 2024-2025 campaign. Who is it? Unfortunately, he is one of the most creative and talented youngsters not only in Spain but in the entire world at the moment.

Pedri was selected for the Spanish national team for the UEFA Euro competition this summer in Germany and was a player to watch for the international games. However, his tournament was cut short due to a bad-looking knee injury that will see him not only miss the rest of the tournament but miss potentially the beginning of the Barca season next year.

Despite Spain winning against Germany 2-1, which saw them move on to the next round, they knew it came at a cost. Spain is in the semifinals of the Euros, but they did so at the expense of one of their stars, Pedri. The 21-year-old is still in his young 20s, but he rose to prominence as a teen who shone on the club and world stage.

That gives Barcelona much cause for concern. The Spanish Football Federation stated that Pedri had just a knee sprain, which is a short-term issue, but it seems as though it could be worse. Only time will tell the extent of the knee injury that could see Barca’s starting eleven plans change before the season has even begun.

If Barcelona won’t have Pedri for the 2024-2025 pre-season, this means that they are subjected to trying a new starting lineup for the beginning of La Liga to see if they can reclaim their spot at the top of the table. Barca had a poor season last year, with many players in and out of the team and financial woes causing issues.

If Pedri isn’t able to start the season, it could start the season on a bad note for the Catalan side.

Barcelona FC Looking Forward

Last season, Barcelona FC ended La Liga in second place, just a few points behind the league leaders, Real Madrid. Now, looking forward, it will be harder than ever to win. Real Madrid has secured more players in the off-season, like the super-quick Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, which will make them an even more threatening side.

Barcelona had 79 goals in their season compared to Real Madrid’s 87, meaning they need to find the back of the net more to claim the top spot. They had 44 goals compared to Real’s 26, so they need to also bolster their backline to prevent excessive scoring against them in close games.

Barcelona will rely on key players moving forward. If Pedri isn’t able to start the year in the starting lineup in the midfield, they will rely on Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Frenkie de Jong as the midfield trio to help string together passes and break up the opposing team’s play in the center of the park.

Strikers who need to find the back of the net more frequently for the side include Raphinha, Yamal (the Spanish 16-year-old who is arguably one of the best players in the Euro tournament), and Lewandowski, the ex-Bayern man who is one of the best German players of all time.
